I should have guessed you were going to get technical. But when you machine out the web on the crank counterweight balance how do you know how much to take off at the other end to bring it all back into proportion.
If this makes any sense to you.

I'm no engine expert myself but I think the webbing that you refer to is directly opposite in direction to the intake window hole that affects the crank timing on the crankshaft. Maybe the same amount of metal can be taken out when you change the crank timing. That's an idea. But I think you need special machines small enough for rotary balancing of the crankshaft.

Dennis, what are your views on Super Charging. Do you think it is hype or can the back flow of exhaust gases reentering the cylindder become effectively a super charger.

I know all about the exhaust length factor. Spent ages at the track cutting the manifold and adjusting to find the correct length. Just didn't think that putting burnt gases back into the equation would be really beneficial.
When you s@~@, you cant eat it and get nutrients from it because they were taken out the first time. That was were I was coming from.

Yeah. I have seen that happen to few guys who didnt know what they are doing. My father was one of the first RCers in the UK and started the whole thing here in Ireland. He learnt how to mod engines from Sabbatini. At the 77 world championship for 1:8th

Whats the theory behind polishing the sleeve and crank?
#928
It makes the flow a lot more efficient.
#929
Does it? I have a hard time believing that.A engine can only force so much air/fuel into the chamber given the design/ports in a .12.
Dennis?
Any motors on the market that could hang with a Smeltz?

Here is part of an interview from Dennis. (RC Nitro Magazine)(On their website - Timing is everything)
The grinding and polishing are done in an effort to maximize efficiency and power output.
