I started stripping the first gear recently. I practiced an entire day on the same gears, then all of the sudden I started stripping them. I thought it was my pinion gears, but my friend borrowed my engine, pinions included and he did not strip. I did notice my rear shaft was moving, so I tightened it down to where it would not move at all, but I still stripped.

Lipo
I run lipos in my xr8 but in the mrx4r i don't because the battery that is designed for it has plenty of runtime with good servos. I would say a lipo would be better if they don't scale your car because it will be lighter and is under weight with a ni-mh battery. In any kind of racecar lighter is faster!

I remove the front stabiliser and the car turn very easy ( I'm talking about mid cornering and corner exit on full throttle ).

I heard the new 1/8 protoform and kawahara are the best in business..... I haven't buy it yet.
I would test these for mid cornering push :
(1). Put the caster clips all the way front ( the caster is more lay down )
(2). Lay down front shocks to lowest setting ( more lay down )
(3). Change front spring to grey ( softer than white ).
