Truing 1/8 foams.
Is truing foams for 1/8 still a thing? Do you need a tyre specific lathe or can I use a normal micro lathe? What cutters? Target diameters?
I bought a couple of 977Es, and I got like 10 sets of used foams thrown in... They are all worn unevenly, I want to match them up.

It is a while ago I have trued tires. Basically it is because we have handout tires with which we may nod do a thing than only ream the 12mm bore to fit the shaft. They are 69/76mm and that is a good size. But even before that the most tires I had were 70/77mm so to me no reason to true them down. while further back in time some brands were 73/80mm
But yes, some people preferb to run 67/74mm and then you need to true them (if they are no handout).
You can use a lathe with a small piece of a jig saw blade or get an RC plane starter motor and create something arround it.

^Cool, I'll see if I can borrow a lathe or if I need to buy a lathe, I'm thinking a Unimat should be sufficient.
Will the car handle badly if the tyres are a little mis-matched left to right, say a couple mm or so? Cos obviously the tyres will wear out at different rates depending on their position.

much more important to handling is the split front to rear. Try to keep this around 7mm. So fronts 7mm smaller than rear.

The tires will never wear if you soak them in 303 protectant at least 12 hours before a raceday...

If you are just playing around, matching up some sets should be ok. If you intend to race, you will need a truer. Fresh rubber is important for competition and we tend to preorder our tires in bulk at a predetermined diameter. since our local track has very high grip and a smooth surface, we have them cut to 74R and 67F.

What is that trick folks use when reglueing the foam to a clunking tire?
