has anyone had their truck through tech for fuel capacity with stock fuel line? after having several different vehicles, i was just curious how close the Tekno is to the 150cc max.
in saying that i get 12 minute pits with my truggy so i could aford to loose a bit of fuel line :p |
Had the cash race at LCRC Raceway, had TQ after first round but Mazarra got it in the 2nd. I ended witht he win. was running in 2nd till Mazarra was violated by lappers and this gave me the lead to hang to for the rest of the main. truck was good and made no changes to the current set up:D
love this truggy!!! |
Trying something new
Build basically done. Waiting for servos so I can button things up and hit the track at 3BR 4.0 this weekend! :D
I can't wait to drive this thing!!!! :tire: |

I'm loving this truggy also! Here's some alternating truggy footage from a qualifier this past weekend. I'm the White body, Yellow wheels/wing NT48. I have a big goof up at the beginning but got it together after that. I went straight to the track with no practice so this was essentially my practice run. Ended up qualifying 2nd but won the A main. I also found a pretty good set up with the LRC brace. I recommend the LRC brace!

Hello everyone!!! I have just created the "Tekno Rc Owners Club" group on Facebook. Any Tekno owner is welcome to join. The page is to do with anything Tekno. Ask questions, show off your rig, and help others. Feel free to join! Id post the url but it wont let me so search for Tekno Rc Owners Club.
Thanks! MIP Chris |

a horn that steps down or one that steps up. The Tekno one or HB ones are the most popular. Notice how the Tekno horn steps down, the linkage mounts on top. http://www.teknorc.com/tekno5/wp-con..._s-248x248.jpg The HB ones steps up and the linkage mounts under. http://www.hpiracing.com/assets/imag...1p_314_235.jpg |

A correct aluminum steering servo horn. The way Tekno did the linkage you need

Anyone else have spur gear issues with this truck? Any fix for it?
|
I broke another 1 yesterday. only 1 tooth and I finished my main, but it is getting frustrating. The problem happens when you land hard on the rear on throttle. I think a forward extended motor mount could fix the problem, but it will be hard to design with the center plastic piece. I have changed my driving style to compensate for this problem, but I still get on it occasionally when I shouldn't and just hope I didn't do any damage.
I hope they figure it out soon as this is an awesome truck. It just gets expensive needing a new spur and clutch bell 1-3 times a race weekend. |

My truck was so fun to drive I wasn't even that chapped I DNF'd! I have made some calls and will keep the updates going but I am putting my old one back in since it was fine for 4 races. seems that if they are bad then they are bad immediately. |

I imagine it will prob zero time at all for this to be fixed. I raced this weekend at the BBR.4.0 and truck was amazing. set TQ and for the 45 minute main due to blowing a bell in my buggy while in the lead I decided to change the truggy bell and spur. welp the spur blew out at the 4 minute mark just after lapping the field. I am not sure what the issue might be but luckily there isn't a problem with the buggy spur so I am sure the fix will be quick.

Mo, your truck was ridiculously dialed this weekend! As for the issue, it must be hit or miss, because as you saw, I donkey flipped mine and it nose dived into the face of the big triple from about 15 feet up at 3BR 4.0, and it never skipped a beat, finishing the 45 minute main.

For those that are having issues with the spur gears, how are you setting your mesh?
We have found that the truggy requires a very tight mesh with almost no play in between the gears. If you run it too loose it will break the teeth and strip. Also we recommend that you replace both the spur and the clutch bell at the same time to avoid premature wear on the gears. For those that are having the issue please send us an email with pictures to [email protected] so we can monitor it. Thanks for choosing our products! -Thomas |
Can someone tell me the length off the front/rear dog bones please. I have spare dog bones from my 811T which measure 142mm and I'm just curious to no if they'd fit.

That's weird Al but I know you're not alone. I haven't had any problems with mine at all and it has 4 races on it. Wonder if there was a bad batch of spurs? How are you setting your gear mesh?

I've been having a spur problem. I set my first spur as I always did in my mugens, and after about 3-4 weekends of racing, I noticed I was having to move my motor closer and closer to get the mesh set right. I tear down my truck and do all the necessary maintenance each week. I noticed metallic dust in the spur area each week. The teeth were wearing into a sawtooth pattern. I realized that if I set the mesh, the teeth were bottoming out and there was still play between the teeth side to side. The sides of the teeth on the spur were concave, not straight. Tip to valley was tight if I didn't back it off slightly. Also the truck was sounding like a meat grinder. Lol. I swapped the gear out and with new one, new clutch bell, and fresh TKO clutch bearings. I set it as tight as I dared. I broke 2 teeth off the second weekend. I put a gear and new clutch bell back in, fresh TKO clutch bell bearings again, and reset it just slightly looser than I had set it when I broke teeth. Now 4 weeks later the spur is back to sawtooth wear. When I say sawtooth I mean its shaped like a shark tooth. I'll try to post a pic on the next post, I can't post from my phone...I'm running a 14 tooth cb now and I have my motor slid all the way inboard and there is no room for more adjustment. I think I'm going to start checking the backlash with a dial indicator so I can be more accurate and keep notes. Any suggestions are welcome. I thought the first worn gear might have been from running rear motor. I'm back to fwd motor (this is how the truck is meant to be driven) and experiencing the same wear. Frustrating!

By the way I should have mentioned,I still love my nt48, it's made me much faster and competitive, especially in the last 4 weeks! Passing people is actually becoming a new favorite passtime of mine, I just turn inside all the other truggies and go. It's so much fun. With my mugen mbx6t I was not passing very many people. Lol

What bell are you using? I am on my original spur ,but I don't use the Tekno bells or clutch. |
First bell was the tekno bell that came in the kit. Second bell was a replacement but still tekno. 3rd bell (14t) is a Losi cause I had a brand new Losi bell. I'm used to seeing some wear on the bell teeth. Just not on the spur. But the cb sees about 3 1/2 turns for every one turn of the spur so its expected, just not at this rate... My bells are actually looking fine!

So your getting the shark tooth wear. I don't land off jumps on power, I never have, I know lots do and that's fine, I just always think of the shock to the drivetrain and I let off. But lots of guys land on power. No problem. Just saying different driving style. Possibly those who drive harder are breaking teeth and less impact is just causing early wear. I'm a welder and a diesel mechanic, but not a metallurgist. I did lose a lobe on a camshaft in a 1:1 race motor once, and it was amazing the amount of wear that occurred and the speed it happened after it wore through the hardened surface. Are spur gears hardened throughout, or just on the surface? Just thinking out loud, but it seems like the wear starts to happen at an exponential rate once it starts
