Race update:
Round 2 JBRL at Palm Desert
Practice round - cased a triple and cracked the fuel tank down the middle :P had a spare and got it back out. Only setup changes I made were: 1.3x8 pistons all around, 42.5F and 30R associated oil, could've probably went up another 2.5 as heat was making oils feel really thin. Car was ok, tried adding a wicker bill to my VP Pro M wing as suggested by Chris Marralle, seemed ok, but really like to jump nose high and when the wind picked up later at night made it kind of sketchy on the bigger air jumps.
1st heat - went ok, but made a lot of mistakes and choose to run the VP Pro Turbo Traxx V1 in Super Soft, just couldn't get the rear to square up on power and the front was pushing due to lack of traction.
2nd heat - Changed to Strikers in SS, went better, but had some slower traffic really take me out one to many times to make a great run at it. Qualified 7th.
A-Main - started well, was running 1st for a little while, then 2nd and dropped a bit after the first round of pits. Picked it back up and was running 2nd again after 2nd round of pits. Have had issues with the run time being iffy so brought it in for a splash and go to finish, any podium is better then a DNF sadly I lost a little to much time in the pits and got taken out by lapped traffic letting 3rd place by. I was charging and making up ground on him but got taken out again. This time the gap was to large and just didn't have the time to make it up. Still was a great race and the JQ really likes Palm Desert. My VP Pro tires and wings held up great on both the nitro and ecar. Thanks VP Pro for the great products and continues support.

Just wanted to give some honest feedback on a couple things I been running this year on my MP9 TKI3.
1. Thunder Innovation 4 shoe clutch and shoes. I havent ran too many 4 shoe setups besides the stock Losi one I had when I ran a Losi last year, besides that mainly 3-shoes I've always ran... anyways I cannot believe the overall performance in general. Its got a good engagement throughout the powerband and the wear is excellent. I have now gone through 2 gallons(keep in mind the 1st gallon was mostly breaking in the engine) but since then I been running pretty consistently on the weekends and they still have plenty of life left.
Second thing....
The Arrow 5port has been really good to me. I barely have to adjust the needles throughout the day. If I do its only a couple hrs. Its been pretty consistent so far and its definitely a potent engine compared to the very high-end counterparts out there. I have more than enough "pop" all throughout the track and for the price...well you just cant beat it. I know the 1st gen Arrows weren't the best...carb issues...tuning issues...cases cracking...bearings leaking...well I think Arrow has solved all those problems. I haven't the least bit experienced any of these issues whatsoever. I run a 6.5mm carb restrictor on mine with the VP-PRO Ultra Hot P3 plug. I think I'll be getting another one of these engines for sure. I'm more of a regular club racer and I attend one or two big races a year so for me this engine is very practical.
Well thats my input...RACE ON!

Well first off THANK YOU to Vp Pro USA for supporting me this year!
I attended my first race running for VP Pro this past weekend in Omaha NE at the jconcepts spring nationals.
I showed up with a brand new intech br6, and a full line of VP pro tires. My practice day went well learning the car and finding a set up. Unfortunately my qualifying and mains weren't as good, I was plagued with engine issues with my reedy engine that I have been running all day in qualifying putting me 3rd in the B main. I switched motors to a borrowed motor and went out in the B and quickly made it to the lead in only the third corner of the first lap. I lead all the way to the 17 minute mark of the 20 min main and was struck with bad luck again when I lost the fuel pressure line off the pipe leading to a flame out.
The intech BR6 is an amazing car, very easy to drive and very responsive to setup changes. When my motor was running the way it should the was very little that looked as good on the track. The car is very durable and the parts have the same quality as all the mainstream brands out there. I couldn't ask for more!!!!!
I look forward to a great year running for a great company.... If you haven't check out VP pro products yet, you are missing out!

Just got a sponsorship from Vp pro usa and was wondering what are the hot tire choices for 1/8 nitro and ebuggy? Most of the tracks I run on use, blockade/impacts or holeshot/gridiron. Usually soft, sometimes super soft. Thanks guys.

Blue or Green Striker and Turbo Trax are the best sellers.

Either way. You can't go wrong with either of the two choices.
In Georgia, for most tracks I race at I am on either TurboTrax 2.0 or originals depending on what I have that day in my bag. Both tires are dialed.
I really like the Strikers as well.
If there is a little loam on top I have been running the Axman with really good results. Those are my 3 favorite tires.

Finally found this thread!
To answer a couple questions...
The Thunder Innovation 4 shoe clutch works great on Mugen cars. I recommend running 2 gold/2 silver spring setup for buggy, and 2 silver/2 black setup for truggy.
For most of the tracks there are 3 tires I go between: Striker, Turbo Trax, and Turbo Trax 2. Green compound is usually the best, but there are situations where blue would be good (like AMS this past weekend). If you can afford it, I would recommend investing in those 3 tires in both compounds.
Here is what I've experienced with the different tread patterns:
Striker: Very consistent tire with the longest life. Very good on smooth, medium/high traction surfaces. In general, a little less traction than the other tires but predictable.
Turbo Trax: High sidebite with medium forward grip. This is my go-to tire when traction on the track is an issue. Universally I think this is my favorite tire. This one will wear a little faster than the others so I would recommend switching to Striker if traction comes up.
Turbo Trax 2: Low/medium sidebite with high forward traction. This tire will allow the rear end to break lose in turns, but is very predictable. I really like this tire on high bite tracks with my electric buggy. Coupled with the Tekno EB48 the corner speed is unreal.
I believe there's a niche for the Impulse as well, but I haven't ran them yet to see.

Hey gene...haven't talked much...just want to say thanks for allowing me to be part of the vp team... These tires have really advanced a lot the past couple years with the new compounds and tread styles. .. Every bit as good as anything else and a better deal...The orange foams made a huge difference too...thanks a ton

Has anyone tried those PowerStar motors from VPPRO? I'm thinking about getting a couple ER-12's(stock and mod class) and was wanting some input on these motors.
Also is the ER12 good out the box as far as assembly and fit and finish or do you need to modify or upgrade anything?
Gene, what esc and motors do you run in yours? Is the box setup a good starting point?

Get the short rear tower, flat shock bladders, and option springs. You may want the 1.5' anti block also.
