This may be a dum question. What is the Dirt setup the one on the losi website? What type of track conditions would u use it? Could u use if for a low-bite(track)?

"the dirt" setup was developed by Adam Drake at his home track of "the dirt" in Hemet California. Adam's "dirt" setup is kind of the standard starting point at all tracks. It wsa basically what everyone ran everywhere on the AD1 truck. On the AD2 truck it works pretty good everywhere but I fell the this trucks requires some smal changes depending on the conditions you run on. There is a "low bite" setup on the losi site that I would try in your situation.

There aren't too many people that use a "tether". It's just as easy to pick up the truck, stick your thumb through the windshield and under the lid, push up, fuel from the drivers side window, close, put down, and go!
The people who I have seen using it have drilled a hole in the cap arm using a dremel, attatching a zip tie to the lid, and cutting a hole and running it out the passenger's side window. Trust me, it isn't much easier this way.

Whats a good throttle servo to get? I heard a high torque servo is good. What are u guys using?
#1417
High torque is probably best.....You don't need a super fast throttle servo unless you're racing blue groove.
I use an Airtronics 94358 on throttle, and on occasion, I use an Airtronics 94758 digital if the traction is high.

I run a VXR Racing Li-Po pack, part # LRX-222000, but Li-Po may not be what you're looking for.
When I ran a regular pack, I used this:
OFNA MDP 1400mah 5 cell hump 2+3 receiver pack, part # 10212 (OFN10212)
Hope this helps!

Sweet thats the reciever pack I choose. Now I just need to order my servo and finish building the truck..

.
why do you run a 358 on throttle? that is way to much torque
#1423
I guess you've never tried one then.... a 358 is perfect on throttle because, especially with the Losi, the brakes start to fade BAD late into a long main. Start the race with the EPA dialed back, and then when the brakes start fading, dial in more EPA.
The excessive toruqe helps stop the truck even with the almost useless brakes.

Sorry but a 358 is way over kill for a brakes. I run a 737 at about 60% with way more then enough brake. Even on high bite I only turn the brake up to about 80%. It is cheaper and the little slower speed of the 737 helps keep the hight power of most engines under check. Most pro's including Drake will agree the 737 is the best thottle servo for gas truck. If you seem to not have enough brake on the truck make sure the brake clips are installed the right way. If you think the brakes on this truck are weak it is usually due to the brake clips installed the wrong way which cause soft feeling brakes. When the clips are installed properly this truck has great brakes with minimal brake fade.
