Hi everyone, I am building a new D8 and am wondering how much torque is needed for the steering and throttle servos. I have a Hitec 965MG servo now for steering but I'm afraid it doesn't have quite the needed torque. Can anyone recommend some cheap, good servos? thanks.

most people will say a Hitec 7955, as its not cheap they say it is the best and take my word for it after spending $200 on cheap servos that just let me down every race meet i have gone to a hitec 7955 and am not disappointed.

Take it from someone that learnt the hard way dont buy cheap anything for your rc car it isnt worth it and it will always let you down

i'll run a fast hi torque servo for the front. and a high torque slightly slower servo for the throttle.

In my RC8B, I run a Hitec 5955tg for my steering and a Hitec 985 for throttle and brakes. I also run them on a lipo with out a regulator.

I run the Hitec 7955 for both throttle and steering. I have never had any problems

Won't it hurt your electronics to run a lipo without a voltage regulator?

985mg is about the minimum. 5955tg is much better. 7955tg has twice the resolution of the 5955tg.
I think the 5955tg is discontinued so that would be NOS or used. They can be found for around $60 used.

have had this servo in my buggy for about 18 months and it has been through hell and it is still going strong.

I'm a begginer in this hobby so I may be completly wrong about this and if I am, I'm sure someone will tell me.
I didn't want to spend 120$ on the 7955 because I was also gettting a new motor, pipe, and a bunch of other stuff, so I got an ACE ds1313 and It really has surprised me. It's really smooth amd is pletny fast enough for me. I'm actually using it for steering and it blows away my old servo.I'm planning on getting a 7955 sooner or later and moving the ACE to throttle duty eventually. But for now I think it will serve it's purpose nicely, and it's a little over 40$ cheaper.

I'm sure the 7955 is an awsome servo, but if money is an issue then the 1313 might get you by.
I haven't used it long so I can't comment on how long it will last, but it seems to be fine for now.
I am fairly new to all of this though, so what do I know.

Thanks for all the replies. I am buying a used 5955TG servo. Gonna use the 965MG for throttle/brake.
