Is the agama a8 spec 2011 the same as the usa edition? Do they both have the longer chassis?

no they are not. biggest difference is the chassis. the 2011 has the stock length chassis and the USA comes with the all new R4 chassis which is 4mm longer than the stock one. also the USA includes these new features;

USA Edition A8 Features:

AGM7002: +4mm USA Edition Long chassis (moves engine back 2mm and extends the rear of the car by 4mm)
AGM1002: Redesigned front lower control arms with replaceable hinge pin bushings
AGM1003: Redesigned rear lower control arms with replaceable hinge pin bushings
AGM4258GB: Differential bearing composite holders with rubber dust boot
AGM0096-0813: 8 hole x 1.3mm tapered shock pistons
AGM9609: Aluminum front chassis plate
AGM8024: 180' 2.4mm Front sway bar
AGM8323: 180' 2.3mm Rear sway bar
AGM7215: R4 extended engine mount plate
AGM8417: R4 Center rear CVD bone
AGM9200: Heavy Duty differential cases
AGM9006: Black Front shock springs
AGM9116: Black Rear shock springs
AGM8311: Captured steering rod ball ends
AGM8219: Flared Spring Steel front and rear outdrives for more up travel
AGM9237: Light weight nylon center CVD pin holders
AGM7220: B Black Front shock tower
AGM7221: B Black Rear shock tower

what I don't understand is why the old 2011 version cost more than the new USA kit on AmainHobbies? that doesn't make sense

Mark, The 2011 version still available from A main is the fully assembled race roller. I guess they sent quite a few out to be built, which has a huge labor expense involved. Thats why they are more than the 2012 USA kit. I dont understand why anyone would want a pre-assembled roller anyway. This Kit build was dream and went together like the XRAY which I thought was the best and easiest build ever. Man its so much fun to build a new Kit!

oh I see. well i'm sure having a pre assembled kit shipped to your door has its advantages also. great for racers who don't have alot of extra time on their hands. but I agree with you. i rather put my own hands on everything. I like taking the time and making sure everything is spot on with my builds. I can't wait to build the new buggy and truggy! hoohoooo!!!!

How much different is the ride of the agama 8evo 2011vs the usa edition? Would I need to add the longer chassis to get the same ride? I'm new to agama and just trying to get an idea of the buggy while I wait for shipment, thanks.

If your not running the +4 you are missing out. We ran it for the first time yesterday. Should have bought the chassis a long time ago. Finished 5th in nitro and 4th in E buggy.

Question about CF shock towers:

1) how durable have they been out on the field? anyone have any first hand feedback on them?

2) is the geometry the same or does it change the characteristics of the vehicle. If so, how (again, anyone with first hand experience? ) .

Im thinking about getting them. Thanks!
