Thanks Chicky, mayor and slow. I'll keep your suggestions in mind next time I come in contact with that type of track.

I guess this was our dilemma - bumpy with big quad jump where the landing was mostly flat. I ran pink/8x1.3/45 wt up front and white/8x1.3/35wt in the back to keep the chassis from slapping. My thinking was if I softened up the springs and oil that would make the car easier to drive but I didn't because of the big quad. Maybe I should have because by the end of the day most people were doubling the quad since the face had broken up.

So if I wanted a softer suspension for the bumps and easier to drive but still keep the chassis from slapping what should I do? 8x1.2 or 6x1.3 and lighter oil?

Try 6 1.4 fronts and 8 1.3s rear
Pink front spring and yellow rears need more steering harder rear spring
Oils I cant rember so do some testing

And yes I am getting better everyday guys

Chassis slap with a 7.5 lb. car 1.125" from the ground is a fact of life, get over it cause you are never gonna eliminate it completely and still have a decent handling car for the other 95% of the track... It is more important to try to keep the car from bouncing up after landing. If you heavily pack up your suspension trying to keep from bottoming out then you are probably just bending the rest of the suspension on landing and when it springs back it might bounce.

On a hard packed clay slightly dusty surface the other day, my car was stepping out in the rear a little on power. I went to a heavier rear bar, 2.4, and White springs (had greys on), and the car was much better. Jumped better, landed better, and was more predictable.

Hey Porkchop;
We've never met or even communicated on RC Tech, but I wanted to tell you that I am glad to see that you're on the road to recovery. God Is Good. Continue to feel better with each passing day. God Bless.

Is Serpent planning to release the rear shock Mod as a kit or will they publish instructions on how to perform this addition. Is it really needed and what does it change on the car? Thanks and do get well soon Porkchop. Your advice is one of the reasons I went with Serpent as my first gas car.

Thank you. Your advice and knowledge is also one the reasons I went with Serpent as well.

One trick is to have the webbed bladders. They do the damping alot more progressive but still keep the beginning of the stroke as soft as the original bladders. Another trick is to go for a bit more rebound as that tend to do the damping a bit more progressive too and stop the chassi from slapping.

We almost always drive on blown out tracks over here and for a track with kinda large jumps with flat landings I have used this setup of the dampers lately with no or little slapping and still a good handling car over the rough stuff:

Front: pink, conical 1,3 6-hole, AE 30wt, outer hole in arm.
Back: purple, conical 1,3 8-hole, AE 20wt, outer hole in arm.
(the new AE oils)

Around 25% rebound with webbed bladders (shaft fully pushed up when closing cap), 40% with original bladders (shaft 3/4 pushed up when closing cap). Same both front and back.
