4) Rip a piece of cloth off of an old towel.
5) Spray with some WD40.
6) Spend next hour scrubbing.
7) Wait for parts to arrive, should take between 2 days and a week.
8) When parts arrive, scream like a little girl and hug deliveryman.
9) Stare at parts for 2 hours.
10) Reassemble.
11) Rinse and repeat.

Dude I thought I was the only one who ordered $300 worth of parts when all i needed was one $5 part. This was way to funny!

Sad thing about that is that I am waiting for the parts to come (will probably yell like a little girl when I get them too!), and I just stripped a tiny (5/64") allen head, and that ONE screw is holding the transmission together.

Seems like they used JB Weld instead of loctite, stupid AE.......

Guys,
I don't understand; if you're not using H20; then how are you rinsing the chasis off? Just spray and brush and leave it? Are you using compressed air to achieve the "rinse" ?

I am as well interested to know if you only blow it away with the compressor?
And what can be used instead of SimpleGreen? maybe wahsing-up-liquid? because SimpleGreen is difficult to order and expensive in europe.

Thanks

air compressor cleaning gun filled with warm water (if available) with bit of kitchen universal degreaser (or anything that is similar to simple green)
then blow dry
spray with a lot of WD40 to get the rest of the water out.
let rest for 10minutes
blow dry

relube all driveshafts with lithium based grease.

car like new

+1 on the parts order. I am always good for $200 worth of parts order from amain after race day when all I need is a $10 part. I clean my car as follows:

strip the car down f/c/r diff, engine, radio tray, gas tank. This takes less than 10 mins with a power driver.
Brush off and wipe large dirt.
Use a driver to get in all the corners.
Simple green the plastic. Only use a little just enough to get the job done. brush and wipe. I use a cup to rinse the brush frequently.
Wipe chassis and plastics clean.
Once clean spray with wd40 and wipe with a clean rag. Then blow with the air compressor.
It should be clean and look shiny and new.

I use the simple green WD40 and the hose as well. I get a little rust but nothing to worry about. WD40 fixes that.

I Use JD Case N Clean, Works wonderful,

1. Open bag and unfold Instructions
2. Ensure safe function of brakes and throttle
3. Warm up engine
4. Place unit on track
5. Jump largest Double, Tipple or Quad, use 2/3 of the require throttle to clear chosen jump.
6. Case last jump
7. Inspect amount of dirt and grime amazingly removed.
8. Repeat until desired results are achieved.

i take out the pressure washer. it gets everything looking brand new and takes about 20 seconds. spray about 3/4 of a can of wd-40 on it then blow it off for about 15 minutes with an air compressor

I use simple green with water as well. But after washing the chassis down, I use the heat gun and dry the car off. That way nothing rusts. I also then just lube the drive shafts, and its ready to go.

Remove radio tray and engine/pipe
Spray WD40 into CV joints and other badly exposed steel parts
Spray with O'donnell nitro clean
Scrub with toothbrush
Rinse with hose
Dry with air compressor thoroughly

No problems with rust at all. Car comes out spotless.

hahaha! I think most of us here are like that. Everytime I go to a hobby shop to get some small parts or something I end up spending more even though i dont really need the parts I got. Its just compulsion! Same as buying online. I need a 5$ part ended up buying 200$ worth. My reasoning for my wifey, hey freight cost is expensive so i need to maximize my purchase. I myself dont really get it but I still do it. Again compulsion.
