i may have missed it somewhere in this thread but, has anybody had any luck w/ just changing out the bearings in that rear carrier to the Avids (or any other quality bearing for that matter) and NOT doing the machine work?

Well I just had my first set of rear hub bearings go bad. They didn't completely self destruct but they became very sloppy and very gritty. I also realized that the front ones were starting to get sloppy and gritty so I changed all 4 outer hub bearings out with cheap protek/amainhobbies bearings. After a full day of racing they still feel good. I don't have enough time on them to say they will last any longer than the stockers but I have 3, 5 minute qualifiers and a 15 minute main on them and all is good. I really am thinking the problem lies with the crappy pos kit bearings. I am gonna order some good bearings sometime soon. Probably the avid's. Just so I don't have to worry about them.

Quick question for all you guys. Does your spur gear protrude just a tad bit from under the chassis? I was cleaning my truck up earlier and noticed that the spur hangs down ever so slightly past the chassis.

Yup the 50t spur's do sit a tad below the chassis. Nothing to be worried about.

Default bearings

a good quality bearing makes akll the differance put ceramic bearings in and you will bnever look back i usually like to replace any bearing that cops a hard time befor a 1 hour long main just to be on the safe side

i got tko ceramics couldnt be happier have them in all my cars

so u think just changing the stock bearing with avids will solve the problem without having to modd the hubs?

I dont have the truck yet, but if i noticed that, i would put small washers under the center diff assembly to lift it a hair. I would hat to snag a rock or something with the spur. I know its unlikely, but......if it can happen, it will happen.

Ok I just wanted to make sure mine wasn't missing any small washers or spacers under the center diff. Good to know it's okay....

i never really noticed it befor but has not caused any problem better that than a fly wheel slightly protruding i guess , if you are concerned about it go to a 48 and then change pinion size to get the same gera ratio and then it would not ever catch you out

I must say that i was very skeptical about the 2.0. I've had it for a month without putting it together. Really like the 1st gen. 8t. Took it to the track yesterday and after ripping around with 8t for an hour i decided to put the radio tray in it and give it a go. I had put both smart diffs in when i bought it. After the 2nd corner with the 2.0 i was speechless. Thought i would never sell my 8t but it was stripped and sold that afternoon at the track. What a difference between the 2 trucks. Everything came loose on the damn thing but my shock ends stayed put. Not sure how much the smart diffs have changed the truck but i can't think of anything i would adjust on it. Turns in better and you can peg the throttle coming out of a corner and it goes straight! Losi hit a home run with this one.

Hi guys

I'm moving from an RC8 to an 8ight 2.0. Will the Associated starter box work with the 2.0, or do I need to switch boxes? If I need to switch then what's the best box for the 2.0? I do like the way my current box fits the RC8. You don't have to move the car all around to get it to work properly. I see there are some mentions of problems with the Losi boxes. Can anyone give a good suggestion as to what to use?

Thanks for the info!

Edit....Sorry, I just realized that I'm posting in the 8T section. But hey, if anyone can help, that would be great.
