LOSA9126 13T high endurance..

has anyone found a drastic improvement between the 2 bells as far as it actually wearing longer? i can't see the inside of the bell lasting longer, it cakes up with aluminum shoe material anyways.. the only thing i can think of is the teeth that ride the spur lasting longer.

my HD's last about 1.5-2 gallons before marking the teeth up real bad and making a ton of noise. i usually clean the bell every 1/2 gallon. a quick dremel job make it easy. just wondering if the few bucks is actually worth it.

i can't tell if its the shim, or the $1 bearings, but i can't get my bell bearings to last more than 1/2 gallon. i change them religiously at 1/2 gallon from now on. or usually if i take the bell off for shoe inspection, or a bell cleaning, new $1 bearings go in.

really, bearings are "loose" in the standard bell? that doesn't sound good.

Stick with the HD bell. Like Rusty said, the bearing fit is sub-par in the standard bells.

IMO clutch bearings will never last very long. Even when running the more expensive ones. I stick with the $1 metal shielded bearings and change them often. I also blast the grease out of my clutch bearings and oil them with a thin bearing oil. RPM bearing blaster works great to clean the grease out.;)

As far as the bells go they both have different jobs. I personally like the reg bell. The high endurance bell is a harder bell, this in return will allow your shoes to slip more, on a small tight track i would not recommend this bell at all. ive also seem to strip high endurance bells. as far as your clutch bearing issue, do your self a favor, grab some TKO special bearings. They are 3 bucks a piece, just make sure you face the blue seals towards each other(so towards the inside of the bell). i have not had one fail one me and ive been using them for about a year maybe a little less. they increased my clutch life, and they last for ever, i change them out when i change a clutch and thats about 2-2.5 gallons per clutch aprox. You wont be disappointed, i run them on both of my cars so does my dad, a couple guys who i got to try them local love them

well ive proven that wrong many many many many times. out of all the sets of tko bearings ive used i have not had one fail.ive gotten at least 2 gallons on all of them before changing them, and they still feel brand new when i change them.i was like you too before i tried them all i used were 1$ bearings, not anymore, they have cost me to many races even when changing them out after a day of racing like many people do, they are too inconsistent imo

if your running a all alum show setup than i would get a robinson eight clutch bell so it last and the clutch bearings fit a little snug also.

the hd bells are ok .

do you mean the bearings have back and forth play ? even if the bell is new and the bearings are new they sit in the bell kind of loose but as soon as you run it and the clutch heats up and seats they sit in the bell snugger.

+1 I ran the same set of tko bearings all summer and that is racing just about every weekend. I did the cheaper bearings from other manufactures last season and just had too many dnf's when they seized up or just plain detonated. I think the biggest part of clutch bearing failure is proper alignment of the engine mounts. Keeping the mounts parallel to lines on the chassis is vital. My BCE chassis has the lines in it, I do not recall if the stock losi has lines for reference.

i really think you installed them wrong, they fail incredible fast if you swap them around, my dad did it on his first set

I guarantee you I did no such thing!;) Blue faces blue. I got that pretty easily.:lol: Unless they have the wrong seals on the wrong side, they were installed properly. It wasn't just one set, but several different sets all installed properly and all failed quickly.;)

yes, horizontal with the crank. so in and out, not "wobble" on the crank.

sometimes i have good luck with the $1 bearings. but usually dont last more than 1/2 gallon. ive ordered a dozen TKO $1 bearings instead of the $avids. so we'll see if there's a noticeable difference.

but regarding the HD bell, i was just curious if it was worth the extra $3-4. i wonder if my camera phone has a good macro, or else i'll have to wait till i get home. im just curious about my mesh wear. there's some serious grooves in my teeth. if the standard bell is going to wear the same, or others arent noticing a difference, might as well get the cheaper bell.

are the metals harder? or is the HD bell just heat treated?

The old standard bells have a lot of wobble in them even when new. In and out play is easy to shim and a little bit is actually needed. The wobble is what you don't want.;)
