Dose anybody know if the GS and Losi diff oils are the same.
If not, what is the difference?

Im sure there's a minute differance. But if you use the same brand oil(weather,GS,Losi,Etc.) for all the diff's youll be fine. Iv'e mixed diffrent companie's before in a pinch,(mugen,and kyosho oil.) but could'nt tell a diffrence.

Ok. say you set camber and toe. But with the play in the linkages, how do you know where you're at? Example; you set the front for one degree of camber. But with play, it is at most 3* and minmum 1*. What do I call my setting? 3* or 1* I just use the RPM gauge, with rims only on, and drop the car 6" to the table. Then adjust the links to get my reading and go. But when I get to the track, the expert drivers usually say that my camber looks way off. So then I adjust it by my eye and it looks like too much. So I'm lost on how to get in the ballpark. I'm not looking for spot on cause I don't need it to the gnats ass perfect. I'm just looking for other people's way of doing. Thanx

I run the same setup as ice except I run the Ofna narrow 13T clutch bell. I think the kyosho clutch bell was link $25 at the lhs. I did try the losi bell but it just looked to awkward in there and came too close to my fuel tank. With the Ofna CB, it looks how it's suppose to. Also I didn't have to do anything in the way of crazy shimming with the King Head motor mounts, but I've seen this same setup done with the stock losi motor mounts also.

I used to run my old Xray clutches on the 8ight using the stock engine mounts. Only need a couple shims behind the collet to get it like a normal buggy.

I'm fairly new to this nitro stuff and stumbled across vented clutchbells. I'm totally paranoid about heat. Are vented CBs worth it or are they just kind of a gimmick? I know I'd have to switch out the stock clutch setup and was considering either the fiorini (fioroni? firorinorinoroni???) adjustable clutch or maybe that RMV clutch...

Vented clutch bells are cool if you run aluminum shoes. They shed the heat and contaminates will not bother how the shoes grab.
Run sealed bells if you run carbon shoes.
Just temp the bell after your runs and find what works for you.

3-Shoe? - Kyosho or Mugen carbons. The Kyoshos cost more but last forever. You also have to modify the flywheel a little. Run the required 1.0mm springs. I always run the Losi clutch bells so you don't have to put the motor in weired positions.

You might consider the Works clutch if you want something different. 2 Roulon and 2 carbon shoes works very well on slick or short tracks. 3 Roulon and 1 carbon if you are hooked up and can put the power down.
Gold spring 1.25 mm from flush w/ loctight.
This clutch gives a definite advantage to me in ease of the drive and wear.
It gives up nothing on the track.
You will soon learn why all of the onroad guys run Roulon.

The wife and I raced our losi 8ight buggys this weekend ( I broke in both heats and the main. This car has bad juju) and after the race she comely walked in to the hobby store and bought herself a Losi 8ight truggy,,, didn't say a word to me just bought herself a truggy and now she needs a engine I know nothing about 1/8 scale buggies and less about truggys what kind'a power plant would you recommend for a novice truggy racer?

I would still buy a .21 engine. Look @ the RB S5 and S7, or the Novarossi 21BF, Picco P7-R Evo 2. If it were me, I would stay in the $200 or slightly above price range....

thanks guys for the clutch set up info. i had tried the mugen flywheel and it fit perfect with the losi cb .but i used the alum. shoes (in my 8t) after 1 run they were beat pretty bad ,then i noticed that the center diff was ripped apart by a rock that got stuck .i went and order the kyosho flywheel i try the ofna, losi cb's but it would not work .so this was my conclusion

Hi All,

Just had my first weekend with the 8ight b Was pretty good too. I did have a couple of problems though, in the rough stuff the rear seems to be bottoming out and bouncing up, it also has a tendancy to roll over in the corners if i hit any sort of bump or rut.

I started out with a box set-up(barring tires, as i'm racing on grass in the UK angle spikes are far better) and ended up with the front shocks mounted outer most top and bottom and the rear out on the bottom and middle top.

I was thinking of changing pistons guessing that 55 + 54 RE SMALLER THAN THE STD. 56'S so maybe 54 front and 55 rear ??

also can anyone list the springs for me hard to soft as i have no idea on losi springs. As i was also going to change front and rear for harder ones.

You think im going in the right direction guys ??
