Thumbs down VRC Lifetime Subscription

For those of us who bought the Lifetime subscription from VRC, do note that they will not be honoring it anymore.
They have unilaterally decided it's not viable for those who paid the lump sum to enjoy the lifetime.
Check your email they sent.
So much for the meaning of "Lifetime"

No email yet. Pretty ballsy to cancel the lifetime when nothing has been updated in a decade.

According to that email, the "they" is only one guy left, who is now 73 years old and he cannot afford the servers (apparently costs have doubled in the past year), etc. any more from what "normal" customers pay, so - unless you imply he's lying - it's more desperate than "ballsy". Also, he explains why there haven't been any real updates since 2014 - the developer of their physics engine left, and could not be replaced.

Also why is this supposed to be a "Nitro Off-Road" specific thread?

This is abt the meaning of "Lifetime". If you signed up for something that says "Lifetime", you wouldn't expect the business to honor this? Regardless of the amount you've put in to purchase that membership? Really?

And Mod is welcome to move this thread to wherever deemed appropriate.

Of course it sucks. I'd prefer them(him) to honor that lifetime account. But the way I understand this is: either they(he) end this deal and have people paying regularly or go out of business soon altogether. Neither way will you (or I) get any more "lifetime" out of it. But that way, maybe we'll all get a couple of years more VRC Pro at all.

Yep. Ideally we hope he can remain in business but I didn't pay a couple hundred euros just for the business to retract the deal just because it's no longer worthwhile for him.
I guess yes, I'm more hard hearted. You took my money, you honor the deal.
The deal was promoted by you, I didn't ask you for it.

While I understand your gripe, in this situation you have 2 options, either pay for yearly subscription to enjoy the game or keep your lifetime and the company go belly up and you don't enjoy the game...
