Default Need help picking a basher.

I've been out of the game a while and just started to race again at my local track but I want something me and my son can take to the park and beat up on. I see a lot of new companies out and not sure which to pick, looking for something quality and rtr with a brushless system. Any help is appreciated.

i would go with just about any of the higher end arrma products. The kraton, nero, tailon, fazon, or outcast. Any of them will be super durable and they are priced right.

Arrma is great and I also love my X-Maxx. It's a total beast and can go anywhere. Kids love it too.

Are there any trucks out there available almost rtr with no radio system? I'd like to use my radio from racing.

rcp07, to the best of my knowledge most of the good bashers out there are rtr. One thing I would seriously look at is Traxxas, they make some tough bashers that can take a beating.

If you're racing a certain brand, maybe think about bashing something that shares parts. Keeps cost and confusion down.

I have 12 RC's and I was asking these questions about a year ago. After 5 Traxxas vehicle purchased and now, 5 Arrma purchases, I can honestly say that Arrma is the best choice. The X-Maxx is my only Traxxas vehicle that hasn't broken in some way. Of my five Arrma's (and these are the vehicles I bash the hardest) I've broken one thing on Kraton...a body clip strap.

Get an Arrma Kraton. Hands down the best RTR Truggy/Monster truck from a sheer reliability, fast, fun and extremely durable standpoint.

Don't believe me? You Tube search Aussie RC Playground. Vas has had 100+ RC vehicles and the Arrma Kraton is the gold standard and the best for your situation. If I had to do it all over again, I would have started here with my Son as well.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm browsing around and the arma outcast caught my eye for only $500 it seems like a really solid choice. Any issues running these guys long term with a 6s pack or should I stick to a 4s?

I have both Kraton and Outcast. Same basic design. Can't go wrong with either. I run mine on 4,5 and 6s. 5s is the sweet spot I feel, but you need to change the stock esc to run 5s. The arrma esc only does 4s or 6s. You won't be disappointed with 4s.

Pull the trigger! Pun intended.

Thanks for your help, so "stunts" aside which would you recommend for bashing?

If it were me I'd get the Kraton or the Outcast. As others have already said.

I like the Outcast's tires and body and wing. But the Kraton is a more conventional truggy size. I'd get whichever is cheaper. Unless it's close - then probably the Outcast, since I like the tires and body better.. The Kraton is perhaps more versatile, in that it should handle better on a track.

They should be very similar I would think under the hood, with the main difference being the Outcast just has a shorter chassis. I think that's the main difference. And the tires..

You can run 5s in the Arrma products with the stock ESC. Just get a cheap lipo alarm and set the ESC to NiMh mode. Works like a charm!

I agree with Arrma being tougher than Traxxas. I started with Traxxas and bought pretty much everything but have since purchased my 3rd Arrma (Senton, Typhon, Kraton) and they are so strong out of the box.
