Questions?? Any Suggestions for axle to hub slop? 3908 E-Maxx

I have the stock axles and the blue serrated Traxxas wheel locks and the slop between the stock axles and the wheel hubs allow the wheel and tire to wiggle alot. I know it's not the steering linkage, you can see the slop between axle and hub when you rock the wheel up and down. Any suggestions on how to tighten this up? I know this is a known 3908 E-Maxx issue, but wasn't sure what everyone was doing to solve it. Thanks.

I saw a mod done by someone recently regarding this but I forget exactly what it was. I want to say they drilled the end of the hex adapter so they could thread a nut onto the axle but I'm not 100%

If you have any aluminum tape that's used to seal duct work you can try a layer of that on the axle to take up the gap.

Found it. Last post. Drilling was involved but for a brass insert which is harder than aluminum so shouldn't wear as fast and can be replaced.

Hmm thanks. I was thinking of some type of bushing as well. If I knew new hubs would fix it I would just buy them, but many have reported a loose fit pretty out of the box. I tried blue thread lock and it lasted for awhile, but I think just too much pressure for it.

Eta I went ahead and bought a set of new pulls. If their loose as well I'll do something like suggested.

HPP have the best hex i'v ever used. But they will cost you a bit of coin.
But you do get what you pay for.

Thanks for that. I did the shrink tubing mod last night. Had to ream the axle holes slightly to make room for the shrink tubing thickness. It will work until I see if new hubs fixes this. For now it took all the slop out. Interesting cut away on you're hubs, AP, They use o rings to help control this. Then a cap to tighten down on the axle stub.

Remove tire and outer hub assembly I then slide on 1 or 2 as needed 8x10x 0.1 shims put together and test for drag and slop .

Thanks Bob, do you put the shims between the allen screw and the bearing? ie, slide the shims onto the axle, until you can barely get the allen pin in?

I did drive it for a few minutes last night and it's much more precise now. Before it was almost like a drunken sailor lurching. The with the TSM on, it magnified that. Wheels were whipping back and forth as the TSM tried to find it's happy place. Now that felt strange lol.

Easy, I used 3 three 6mm axle shims. I believe they are either 0.3 or 0.2 mm shims. They work perfect on all 4 corners. 0 slop in the 17mm adapters to axle after this. The glow plug washer was too thick. I tried it first. The axle shims worked perfect. They are not 8mm shims. They are 6mm shims.
