Most MT motors are 2200 or lower kV. Is your 2300 an 1/8 Scale motor, or an MT motor? The Monster-truck motors tend to be significantly larger then the regular 1/8 buggy/truggy motors. If you're using a buggy motor, that could be the explanation for the heat.

Personally I run a heavy Maxx on 2039kv. Your LST2 is similarly humongous, and would probably do well on 2000kv.

What brand is the 2300? Is it 2 or 4 pole?

I'd use a Neu 1717 1Y if you can find one and go 5s.

Yeah, buggy motor definitely not up to the task.

Shoot for something in the 2000kv range with a Monster Truck sized can.

For the budget minded, there is the Hobbywing 4274SL (2000kv, 6S Capable Monster Truck-purposed BL motor). Along with the Leopard LBP4074/2.5Y.

Check out Kershaw Designs. I went with the Leopard 4082. I run it on 5s and it is insane. It also matches up perfectly to TD's Tekin motor mount.

CC 1515 with 4S or 1717 with 6S are the best combos. Keep in mind the Kv/Motor you use is also affected by the batteries you use, i.e., 1717's are great with 6S but a 1515 will run hot with 6S. Gearing and tire size are also crucial. It's not just about the motor, it's the whole package. Motor, ESC, Batteries, Gearing, ect . . .
