What about 1/8 scale buggy or truggy transmissions?

or getting a BL emaxx trans and making it fit in the tmaxx chassis?

I figured that I should take a more methodical approach to choosing a BL motor so I've been doing some research, it seems as if a stock 2.5R engine puts out about 1.33 hp or threabouts with no load. That translates to about 992 Watts (this seems high to me) that's just a straight up conversion and I know there is a lot of variables. Does any body have more accurate #s?
I've been looking at TACON motors in the Hobbypartz site, when looking at a motor's specs they show Watts and a number of Lipo cells eg. 2,3 etc.
I'm reading it as "when using this # of Lipo cells, this will be your power output (watts)" and dividing the posted Watts output by the # of cells gives you the per cell watts, am I correct in assuming this?
If that checks out, is it as simple as just finding out a BL motor that puts about that 992 Watts when using 3-5s?
We have to figure out what's the max wattage output than won't destroy the stock tranny and go from there. What do you guys think?

Nah thats no fun... It would be to slow anyways. Dont you want it to be faster then the nitro. I know I do. Hell I killed the first tranny with a VXL system. The BL motors have to much low end torque thats what is killing the gears.

LOL, that's the thing though... finding a motor that's puts out enough torque to get all that moving, but with enough top end to make it fast.
Or as someone suggested, use a tranny from the BL emaxx or BL e-revo, is it the same tranny for those two? Would it work in the Tmaxx?

Thats what I want to know to, if the Brushless emaxx transmission can be made to fit in the tmaxx... I know its not a bolt up.

haven't posted in a while but, I'm still making progress, I made a motor mount myself just for "proof of concept". since it worked I ordered one from How2rc.com, it works great, I'll post pics soon.

I too have been messing with my t maxx and got tired of my nitro. Since I got my daughter a mini revo vxl I got hooked. I also like making my own thing-a-ma-jigs and did a lot of research I came up with my own low budget brushless ET-Maxx.
Hobbywing 80a esc.
Hobbyking 2200kv and robinson racing pinion total of $110
I've only played with it for like 10 min. and its pretty cool. Hard to keep the front end down. Oh I'm also running 2 2s 2200 lipo's. Oh and I'm still working on the battery hold down tray. Here are some pix of my ET-Maxx. Hope you Like.
