Tmaxx reverse
#1
So I got my Tmaxx going all purdy. Is there a guide to setting up the reverse? I had to take the gearbox apart because it kept jamming (was a bit of crud inside, but it's high quality and wasn't damaged). To do so I had to reset all the servo's etc.

That part I underlined killed me!!
Anyway, there really is no guide but there is a PDF on the traxxas web site on how it goes together. You just have to make sure all your linkages are adjusted the right way and the reverse & forward gear is engaging all the way.
What kind of "crud" was on the inside? Was it gear powder?

But I bought the Tmaxx second hand, and I tried cleaning it, some dirt owuldn't come off. I used every chemical you could think of + a tooth brush, was seriously hard. He had left the gearbox rubber flap open and some got in. I got a tooth pick and fixed it up. Pain to reassemble though.

Honestly man, once you've owned a chinese buggy, a pile of dog poop is high quality.

Now, If you installed FOC, forward only conversion gear, look at all these parts lol.

FOC. is the way to go with these, less rotating parts means less chance something is going to break plus it's a stronger set up. OPTI drive's bust all the time allowing you to shift it on accident into reverse while it's still moving forward and vice verse. Sometimes when they go bad, it shifts it by it's self making you a nice internal gear salad.

Is the reverse gear something you "have" to have? Look at all the parts that you need for that.

Yeah it is a reverse one, because it did work, and stil kinda does (however I actually have to kill thee engine, change it, then start it again, which defeats the purpose). That forward only conversion looks brutal, I hate the optidrive with passion. How do I install this? remove the gearbox internal's?
It's nice to get rid of all that clutter (gears) along with the servo ETC ETC. The trans runs smoother too. Not to mention, you will be making it a bit lighter.

Yes, It's actually quite easy once you have the trans in hand, to get the trans out is easy too as you know. You just simply open it up and follow the instructions that come with the gear in the bag.

Show us all how it's done then "all mighty thinker fabricator". Your more than welcome.
For the $10 bucks, why bother.....

You don't need to be an almighty thinker fabricator to do it. Perhaps you're not capable of, or don't care to do this without someone showing you, or selling you a bolt in part, and that is sad IMO, but the 10 bucks isn't really the issue, for me anyway. The OP is now going to order his part and sit on his hands till it gets to him, while he could be experiencing the satisfaction that comes from doing things himself. Of course like I said, some people are just not into that, I was simply offering the OP another option. I apologize if you were somehow offended.

Im not offended at all
Tell me/us, why is it sad?Im very capable of doing it myself and If there was a way to do it, Im sure the OP is capable of doing it himself too, that statment was insulting.
It's not to late to educate the OP and the rest of the forum on how to do it, he might not have to "sit on his hands" after all.
Im always open to learn something new and If you have the know how, why have you not shared yet after 2 postes?
In which way were you offering another "way to do it" (option) with no instruction? Just curious?

OK I will. Just "FYI"

Now begone! I'll waste no more time with you.

the 2nd pick shows the adjustment screw. There's a spring in between that screw and the flyout itself.
You'll also want to check the bearings on those gears while you're at it.
