yessssss!!!! i found a video on youtube with the same thing. this is 100% exactly what mine is doing. watch the whole thing. people were saying the motor gear and spur are to close. but i got play in between my gears. then some say because theres no reverse, like mine, its supposed to make that noise. and some say gears are stripped, and other things. read the comments. and when he uses the ez-start, thats what my spur and driveshafts do.

The only way your going to find the problem is to yank the trans out, open it up and stare at the PDF exploded views located on the Traxas web site to make sure everything is in working order.

It could be tons of things. Stripped out gear in the priamry shaft gear, grub screw pin came out and stripped out a tooth on a gear, ETC ETC.

Trust me, your going to be in that trans multiple times if you are thinking about keeping it for a while, might as well open it up and get yourself famular with it, make friends with it because chances are you will be spending alot of time inside of it lol...

yea, i was afraid of that. i loosened the motor mount and moved the gear on the motor away from the spur and when i spun the spur to the right, it spins freely and spins and spins. as soon as i move the motor back to where the two gears come together, thats when theres resistance.

Well, thats either your mesh on the clutch bell (pinion) and the Spur gear or the CB bearings (clutch bell bearings) are bad.

Can you get a close up pic of your "mesh" and (spur gear and CB gear)? It might even be a bad spur gear.

Can you take the engine out? Take the 4 bolts off the bottom of the chassis, take the fuel tube off the carb nipple and pinch it, other wise it will leak fuel if theres some in the tank, take the bolt off the chassis that holds the pipe onto it, pop the linkage off the throttle horn and your engine is out.

Does it have play in the clutch bell like a bearing is bad? Look for metalic fragments around the chassis where the clutch bell lines up.

could the bearings go bad already? i mean it only has like 12-14 tanks ran on it. i can try to take a pic of the gears. yea, theres no fuel in my tank.where exactly is the clutch bell? i dont see any fragments.

The clutch bell is the gear that meshes with the spur. You will have to yank the engine out to get to the bearings.

Bearings could go bad with 1/8th of a tank of fuel, they spin at 33,000RPM at WOT. Heck, you could buy a bad bearing brand new in the bag lol...

heres some pics. i dont know how good you can see the gears.

lol, ok i got it out. took me 3 minutes, lol. the motor bearing turns both ways. how much should it turn? should i be able to spin it and it keeps spinning? or does it just turn?

It's fine, it should spin and spin. Now you have to pull the trans out and open it up. Leave the engine out for now, slap it back in once the trans is done. If theres nothing wrong in the trans, it was your mesh. Mesh should be as tight as possible with no binding if that makes any sense to you. You should be able to spin the spur gear and it should spin for a bit with no binding when it's meshed up the right way. It's hard to mesh a T-maxx beacuse it's hard to see how much gear is grabbing the spur. It's all done by feel and if it makes sense.

my gear on the motor dont spin and spin. the spur gear now that its away from the motor spins and spins one way. but the motor gear i gotta turn it by hand to spin it. theres no noise from it. it turns both ways, but not spinning freely.

Man Am I good or what?:D:p

Now you have to pup off the E-clip on the front of the crank shaft, Use a rag on it because they like to go flying. Pop off the washer and pull the CB off the crank shaft. Look at the bearings and hit back.

You dont need any extra unless you loose the one on it already. Just don't loose it.
