Replacement t-maxx engine-which one?

I have a t-maxx 2.5. Great and all but just having too many probs with stock engine. Plus, some savages at the track hav been trailing on me, so I would like to get a bigger/better engine. I know the trx 2.5 is hard to beat, but I just know that there have to be better engines out there. Anyone have suggestions or experience with replacements?

In the new stuff section on radiocontrolzone they have a thread on the new Sirio .23 for T-Maxxes....yes... .23 that is a drop in engine for the Maxx....

macnkitty2002 07-10-2004 12:31 PM

Wont that .23 motor be hard on the transmission?

gardencityrc 07-10-2004 01:13 PM

Werks racing small block .21

2.2 hp, 32,000 rpm

mate this engine with a Sirio big bore pipe and a motorsaver air cleaner and you will have a BEAST of a T-Maxx.

The tranny will hold up just fine. If anything you will might break the top shaft(4992) or the primary gear (4995) but I doubt it. It's definitely worth the money to upgrade to the Robinson double disc slipper kit. This will take most of the load off of your tranny.

The drop in Ofna/WASP .21 is a pretty sweet motor for a reasonable price, i've installed a couple for VERY happy customers.

Werks/Picco
Ofna/Picco
Orion WASP .21

They are all the exact same engine, with a different name and a different colored head...

myclod 07-10-2004 04:46 PM

sorry i knew the wasp/picco were the same didn't know about the werks

gardencityrc 07-10-2004 05:23 PM

Yes, you are correct, they are SWEET engines!

The factory rear and front diffs won't take the power for long even the siro .18 will break the diff.

if anything go to engeneering unlimited and check the super 6 forward only conversion for the transmission, loose over 1/2 pound of rotating weight and let the motor do it's job and turn those tires!!!

whats the internet sight for engineering unlimited? i am interested. i got the sirio .18 about a week ago. i should look to get the one way transmission.:)

will the werks/ofna/picco/wasp .21 fit in a revo?

myclod 07-22-2004 07:29 AM

no the ofna .21 won't fit in the revo, the motor mount is different than the tmaxx and the .21 requires a special(included) mount to go on the tmaxx

macnkitty2002 07-22-2004 09:09 AM

dont get the .21, just likelizzardo420 said, it will break the diffs. plus i heard that the .21s have awesome low end torque but no top end rpm. good for hill climbing, but thats about it!

myclod 07-22-2004 09:48 AM

Top end will come back with a little gearing change, and yeah the.21's are pretty hard on diffs...

i THINK it's
