getting the itch back to get another clod, used to have one back in the day with a Bennett II suspension on it, who has the best prices these days and who makes chassis kits now for the clodbusters

I don't have any, I'm going to buy a set of axles not the hole car , that chassis looks more like a rock crawler, but will check the web site some more

So for a pure as of today up to date race build here are your options:

Motor Sensored (5.5t-7.5t) depending on brand (we use adjustable motor mounts as well)

Chassis: These are the only chassis I would think worthwhile or likely you'd have a chance at buying

CPE Terminator- Readily available. Like many of CPE's upgrade parts they are decent but often are far from great. The chassis is their best part they sell, other things are a little wishy washy. Also during this time of the year getting orders shipped out is about 50-50 as the owner/operator works for Monster Jam and is on the road almost from january to march if not longer. Also the only one of the list that does not have directions for any of the products.

ZRP Assasin- Latest ZRP chassis, not a whole lot in exsistance will be hard to come by. Full kits would come with so many more things than the CPE, BTA mount and bar(not crap like CPE's), rear steer lockout, upper 4 link mounts.

ZRP Diablo- Older ZRP chassis, however a lot were produced, you can often find one for sale in Facebook Tamyia Clodbuster groups. Comes with all the additional parts the assasin also comes with. You wont likely find these in a kit anymore and likely have to buy a roller or rtr.

TTR Ripper Pro- Like the Diablo these pop up from time to time as a roller or rtr for sale. For a race build I'd stay away, times have passed this chassis by, it was developed in the mid 2000's before lipo or brushless were a thing. Racing of these has also changed and no longer favors this chassis without a lot of modifications, they do still have a strong showing in spec classes that require brushed setups (sport mod 15t firebolt class)

Team Juice Cubes: There are two versions of these, very limited run and will cost you more than any of the other chassis on this list. Comes with everything the other aforementioned three have with instructions, bta mount, bta bar, rear steer lockout. Has some other features others on this list dont have.

ACRC: Another budget style chassis. They would not ever admit to it but its roughly a zrp diablo copy. Not a bad choice, but at one time they were only selling these chassis without links, not sure if it includes anything besides that for the listed price, instructions? probably not but youd have to ask. The only thing I will say is these chassis are very un proven, nobody to my knowledge has showed up to a big race with them yet, so nobody knows if they are strong performers. They dominate their local series, but the same can be said for many other chassis' local markets.(ZRP dominates Michigan, CPE New York, and ACRC Missouri)

Getting parts and chassis is slightly hard. All these groups are hobbies, nobody does this full time and runs of chassis are often determined by when the machine shops can fit runs of parts in (not a whole lot of money to be made in these believe it or not for machinists or those who design the chassis)

My Opinion: Besides the ACRC chassis and the terminator(though I did own the chassis that came before from CPE), The diablo is the most entry user friendly. It really works well for any given setup you throw at it, good or bad suspension setup wise its not awful. The others all required a bit more knowledge before you could unlock their true speed.

CPE is a great way to start out, just it can sometimes get a bit overwhelming being new without any instructions. Obviously you can get almost immediate help in the Facebook clodbuster groups if you run into issues so maybe thats not as big as a drawback as it used to be.

Links:
ZRP Racing: No chassis kits currently but I'm sure they will have some again: https://www.facebook.com/ZRPRacing/

ACRC: Not sure if they have any available, PM them to find out: https://www.facebook.com/absoluterc/?fref=ts

CPE: Traveling order may be hit or miss on when it ships: http://crawfordperformanceengineering.com/

TTR:likely wont reach them this way anymore but you can read more about their products: http://www.thundertechracing.com/

Team Juice:No page, no website, here is a thread from when they were designing it and the first production ones, they have done a run of 2nd gen ones since then: http://www.rcmt.net/forums/showthrea...e-CUBE-Chassis

I want a cube and willing to pay .... :)
So who is selling a chassis or truck ?

quickta 02-03-2017 07:12 AM

decided I would like to get the Gauntlet chassis from CPE, went to look at it again and now no listing under the web site, has anyone know if they are making this chassis anymore, email them twice but no response yet

what do you think of using the redcat ground pounder chassis, found one on ebay that might be cool to use with clod axles

or maybe this one for an axial , the only problem might run into with this chassis or the ground pounder , is needing a swaybar

i built a clod with a ground pounder chassis... needs a bit of ingenuity but you can get it pretty scale and driveable.. gotta make your own links, i had to space the chassis plates out a lot to fit titian motors without cutting up the chassis

quickta 02-03-2017 05:58 PM

can you post some more pictures of the front and rear and from the top or any other picture you think will help, also what did you use for your cantilevers in the picture or did you make them your self, do you make your own links and swaybar, thanks for your help

i bought some revo or summit rockers on ebay, they came with bearings and posts for super cheap, played with shock lengths and positions and bolted it all in, the rockers gave me more travel using shorter shocks, but i ran it for a while with cheap plastic shocks upright, and worked fine, lots of fun.. i made my own upper links and rocker to axle links, i used the ground pounder links for the lower connections, i bought really long crawler links to widen the chassis, i dont have swaybars, truck handles fine as is, im gonna try to drop the suspension lower one of these days but its a fun beater when i just want to "play" .... i got all my ideas from other monster truck specific forums, and went to town, i used stuff i had lying around, do a lil research, one guy built a clod out of 5 dollar wheely king chassis plates...
