what servo are you guys using with 4ws?

adanmtxt1 07-24-2013 06:50 PM

If you're using the stock 4WD system, it probably doesn't matter much as the bellcranks don't permit much of the torque to transit very quickly to the wheels.

If you're using an axle-mounted servo system, even the stock Traxxas 2075 waterproof servos work well in casual use, but for more intensive applications you'll want 150 oz-in of torque or more depending on how much you want to drop and how much power you want.

I found this clod on craigslist for a super cheap price so I couldn't pass it up plus its a clod. I was able to knock down the price another $10 because the chassis is broken and its missing a red plastic link. I took these pics as soon as I got home so they show exactly how I got it. Like I said the chassis is broken, missing link, and its crazy dirty. The next day I took it completely part and cleaned every part that I was going to keep. Next I ordered a bearing kit from Fast Eddy Bearings which I used on my original clod. Once I got the bearing kit I put the axles together with new Tamiya grease. The tires on this clod was something I've never seen before. They were "glued" together with clear silicon. I was able to take the tire off the rim without damaging them. Taking all the silicon off was time consuming but well worth it in the end. I washed the tires and rims inside and out so they came out looking almost brand new which surprised me!

I need to take some pics of the newly rebuild clod but I'll wait until I get a body for it. Now on to the before pics.

Guys, I'm thinking about motor options for my clod. The stock silver cans are already slowing down as I suppose is to be expected. Does anyone have suggestions for mild brushed alternatives? I've gone the brushless lipo route with my E-Maxx and while nice I would prefer to have a fully water proof Clod and I don't know if brushless can match the silky smooth low throttle performance of brushed. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've seen people running the traxxas titans in them with the evx-2 esc

Wow, is it new? It looks really clean! The paint fade looks pretty sharp as well.

I have been thinking about selling my clod. Thought I would mention it here before I put it on the for sale thread. I would have to get 300 plus shipping for it.
