RelentlessCLOD 07-19-2012 03:11 PM

I just got back in the game after 25 year and first thing I did was buy the super clod kit.

Then cf CPE terminator kit quickly followed and quality looks great (NO instructions tho).

I originally wanted the zrp / prp but after blowing my funds on electronics, hop ups, etc, I went with cpe and very happy with it, for the money u just cant beat it. I have two clods now.

I think it's an RC4wd rockbull, at least that's the most similar one to it that I have found. I sold that truck a while back, the chassis was actually made of steel plate, about 2mm thick...pretty heavy!

Check out this link, it shows quite a few chassis' for Clods, some you can't even get anymore! http://www.clodparts.com/catagories/chassis.html

Convince me to buy a clod. In the market for a solid axle monster. Leaning Nitro Madforce though

Clods are addicting to hop up, but can get expensive and I have found they aren't the most durable things out there if you are into bashing hard.

If I were to get back into the solid axle trucks again, I would buy the brushless Mad Force Kruiser VE just to try something new...

My solid axle trucks

Been RCing for close to 20 years lots of everything. Racing and bashing and have owned lots of diff. vehicles both electric and nitro, on road carpet, off road in the dirt. Ever since the begining ive drooled over built Clods. I finally jumped in just recently. I have had a TXT-1 for about 5 years. Bought it to turn into a crawler and now its back to stock and a shelf queen. Clod buster has a Thundertech Ripper pro carbon fiber chassis and i plan to run this truck a bit. Can anyone explain how you post full pictures?

I wish I could get back into building these types of trucks. I just don't feel like I get my money when I can sink the cash into a more useful truck. Put the same aftermarket electrics in these as you would put in an emaxx for instance and the emaxx runs 4 rings around them with it's independent suspension and what not. These LOOK better IMO, especially the TXT1, but it's hard to justify buying something made to be driven and building it to look at or bash gently, because it can't hold up to the abuse of a savage flux or some other electric monster racers. It just seems like I make it the best it can be and it's still nowhere good enough.

For fun and nostalgia I love my clod and even my X-factor, which drives like the clod in nitro form. I'd love to have a STOCK TXT1, but wouldn't drop much coin into it. Just have fun with it. Those Hawaii boys get serious with their clods and I've seen them do some impressive things, but I've still never seen them even come close to doing what an independent suspension truck can.

Are you JUST bashing this truck? If so, why bother with a thin pretty CF chassis instead of a nice aluminum heavy duty one? If racing it against...... I guess other clods around you I could see it, but I couldn't justify it, myself. Just some strength changes like a chassis plate and bash for me. They are fun to mod, but I remember back in the day they did mostly mods like motors and tons of hours of detailing and custom paint. Clods were used for concours as much as for pulling back in the day.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it either way with it, but these new age trucks really make it hard for me to justify going too far with my clod like I used to. The bang for the buck is dramatically different.

X-Factor and convert it to electric. Though if you leave it nitro it has arguably the most infamous MT engine made, the 24/7. http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=368

Not sure if i'm taking that the wrong way and if so i apoligize. First and foremost this is the Clod forum we are posting in. 2nd there is no question in my mind that a independent m/t can dominate these on any terrain. I do speak out of experience, i own a smartly modded t-maxx that i use to race about 7 years ago. That class died and i wish that it still existed. Just last summer i converted it to a E-maxx cause i got tired of the mess of nitro and im sure my neighbors were tired of me driving my truck up and down the street and hitting my launch ramp. It is great now that you can buy 6000mah Chinese hardcase lipo's for about 35 bucks a piece shipped to your door. Its a little slower than it was but its 100% stock electronics and waterproof. If i ever go brushless i have no doubts it would be extremely fast. A brushless E-Revo has been on my wanted list since they came out. I always like Savages especially befor the 3.3 T-maxx came out. I guess if you are giving advice to a total noob you are probly rite that a Clod based truck wouldnt be the best for hardcore bashing. 3rd thing as far as cost build up even a moderate 1/8th scale buggy or truggy, elect or nitro, then go racing and tell me how cheap that is and there is a ton of those guys out there. 4rth the carbon fiber chassis choice for Clods. I am close to a noob on Clods. I bought my truck used and i looked at another guys truck with a ESP IV alum chassis. Maybe a nicer truck than the one i bought but very heavy compared to the truck with the Thundertech Ripper chassis. So since durability is already an issue with these doesnt it make sence to make it as light as possible??? Also a little flex verses flat out bending. Learned that with my T-Maxx and the nice looking machined parts that ended up being a waste. Finally as far as some popular vehicles people run and others say why. Example is one of the biggest classes at any track is Stock Slash. Can it hold a candle to a Assoc, Losi, Hpi, etc SC truck on a track. No but you show me a more competive class. At my track i think all the guys that race mod sc and even both buggy classes race in the stock Slash. Its the biggest class and not because they are all new to racing. Extremely competetive! Mini Coopers are getting that way and to me they look like some of the poorest handling things ive seen but i kind of think thats the point. Anyways i'm sorry if i took things the wrong way but when we give such strong opinions on stuff this is what happens.

rcwanaB 02-24-2013 05:09 PM

Oh and sorry i forgot to mention i do like your truck. I always was interested in those but never saw one in action personally.
