No you didn't. Don't you understand!!! :weird: Its impossible to put them in backwards.

Savage X SS or Savage SS???

Show us a picture of your diffs and how they can fitted the wrong way around inside an SS gearbox, which incidentally, is the version I own. Perhaps you'd like to ask the opinion of all the other Savage owners over on the Savage thread.

I did not take the pinion gear off, I just flipped the pinion gear and shaft around and put the case back together and it's going the right way! :sneaky:
How can you flip the pinion gear and shaft around? :weird: The input gear, part #86031 (P1 x13) can only fit one way - it's actually one piece, complete with the shaft, and any attempt to fit it any other way would result in the input gear not being inside the gearbox, which is absurd.

What you are saying simply doesn't make sense to me at all. If it was closer to April 1st, I'd swear it was just a wind-up!

Show us a picture of your diffs in the wrong way around! Until then, don't try and convince people that it's feasible with stock SS parts - because it isn't.

Period! :sneaky:

According to the other thread he started, he actually owns the 4.6 SS, not the SS.

Yes it is the 4.6 SS - I will post pics tomorrow, and horatio, dude, dont get your panties in a wad, do you think I would waste time coming into a forum to post something like this just to make it up? LoL I have much better things to do in life

ProudSavageOwnr 03-21-2007 12:10 AM

what if this guy had alloy diff cases which are machined without the pattern of the stock?and you can put the diffs in the wrong way???

but since hes sayingf he has stock 4.6ss diff cases yes it is impossible

There's only one wad that I pack where panties are concerned, pal. And let's just say that I carry a 'full clip'.

The problem of your wheels spinning all the time are totally unrelated to the diffs or slipper clutch, so the fact that you're still trying to convince us that the diffs fit in backwards on your truck is confusing to say the least. :weird:

So, excuse me if certain members, myself included, are beginning to detect an element of 'wind up' with both your threads. If you explain to us in plain English how reversing the diffs is possible, I'd certainly offer my humble apologies for doubting you - provided you had pics to prove it!! ;)

Ditto for the input shaft.

Until then, don't get mad - the guys here have been trying to help you, in case you've forgotten.

And there's still no mention of what state your clutch shoes are in, or the clutch springs etc. Or whether your tickover is too high or not. The advice given has been largely unacknowledged. I think TBH, most people would forgive us if we were getting a little frustrated.

And FYI, the 4.6SS a different model to the SS, though in either case, the diffs still only go in one way...... :sneaky:

I found 1 spring broken on the slipper clutch, replaced it and the wheels stopped turning at idle.... Ran good for a while, now it is doing the same thing, so I tore it apart and nothing is wrong with the slip clutch, tranny is making a weird noise when i turn the tires. Taking it to a local hobby shop to a buddy of mine who knows savages better than he knows himself and tell him to fix it before I dispose of it! :flaming: :flaming:

I do appreciate your guys help and have learned alot from browsing here. :D

Put mugen 1.0 clutch springs on it. This will make the clutch engage later which means the engine has to rev higher before the clutch kicks in.. :)

There is 1 spring on the slipper clutch. You say it's broken? Weird. Are you sure that you're not mixing up the clutch (mounted on the engine's flywheel, inside the clutch bell pinion) and the slipper clutch (the slipper pad & plate mounted behind the spur)?

The tranny shouldn't be making noises, so you're right to get it checked out. Before the whole transmission gets taken to bits/inspected, areas to check are the brake hub, where the centre rear drive shaft goes, and also the input pinions onto the diffs. Don't do anything too hasty - it could be something really simple and you'd kick yourself if you got rid of it prematurely. A complete strip down of the entire drive line shouldn't take an experienced Savager more than about an hour to complete, so bide your time.

The Savage is unique. When correctly set-up, it's both durable and reliable. Don't let these teething problems give you the wrong impression. The previous owner obviously gave the truck a sound thrashing before he sold it to you.

RCTech is a rich source of info for just about any type of model car and the help is always there when you need it. :)
