Spec racing!
Many of us went to Jackson RC Sunday to run for their Independence day race this past Sunday. Danny, Clayton and myself ran the spec 13.5 locked timing class. To keep it short--it was an absolute blast and made for close and awesome racing. Danny and I qualified less than a second apart. The class removes all the motor, gearing and timing headaches and thus makes for a really great racing experience. Put the motor in with the proper gear ratio...and done!
The motors are locked Team Powers 13.5s with a fixed gear ratio of at least 5.00 and cannot be lower. 4.99 is not allowed--the gear ratio must begin with a 5.xx. For Xray, Awesomatix, and Infinity (that is, cars with a 1.9 internal gear ratio) we have found that a 108 spur and 41 pinion (a 5.004 ratio) is ideal. Just a headsup for anyone who thinks they might be interested in joining in on this!
We are going to try this out at John's on Saturday.
