It’s the little details that often get skipped.

RM is just fine as it is. It’s also not relevant to a MM problem.

I’ve got no plans to ever pull that RM cover off again. I know it’s going to break, that would be the 4-5cover. I’d buy the aluminum if could find it.

MM2 aluminum motor mount

And ball diff. The Evo4100 is now the most upgraded MiniZ I own. Find out tonight if it was worth it.

Anybody know of a working alternative to the pn 1s 440mah batteries.
PN Racing 30C Dsicharge LiPo MOLEX FEmale Plug 444mah 1S Battery (2pcs)

These are going to be out of stock for awhile it seems.

Good question. Do you need them to fit in the PNR2.5W chassis or the stock chassis without the LiFe battery clips?

I am going to use them in the pn 2.5 chassis. I took the measurement and looked through a lot of battery dimensions but have not found an alternative yet.

Now that you've spent the big bucks, one relatively inexpensive, but IMO considerable upgrade is to go to 64p gearing. You should be able to get a spur and pinions for under $10, or a whole range for a bit more. It is so much smoother, and unlocks a whole new range of gear ratios to suit different motors. Also look into LSD spur gears, with teardrop-shaped ball holes. Lots of top racers swear by them.

With the 3500kv brushless motor, tall gearing (14/53) makes a big difference in being able to keep up with 70T cars. I imagine the 4100kv will be similar.

these are what I used last year in superstock at the pn race. I don't think that they are as fast as the PN, but aren't slow.

Yes. A move to 64p was coming. Definitely in super stock but probably also for the 4100.

I just wired up the PN wiring harness to the screw in battery terminals on the rear of the MR03 chassis so I could switch between AAA or LiPo without making any modifications. In the MR03, the battery clips would need to be the r246 LiFe clips, which arent available anymore. I used the r246 weight set under the Lipos to make weight and calm the car down. I think my car was 182g for that race, so not light by any means. I also had the center weight and triangle weight set from PN in the bottom of the chassis. The PN chassis offers a lot less option to add weight under the battery... and the center should be filled in with Tungsten putty as much as it can.

Kyosho sure is proud of that mount. I bought my Atomic RM, 94MM MM, and LM Mount all for less than Kyosho charges for that mount.

Absolutely agree on 64P gears, I was shocked how much of a difference they made

Cheers,
Jim

I think that in general, kyosho uses smaller rotors. They tend to have less low end torque than competitors similar rated motors. I still need to test my 4100kv across the gear range to see where it stands relative to 3500kv motors. I have unboxed the car, but haven't had any time to do anything else with it. Unfortunately, most of the motor mounts which are designed for kyosho style motors have limited gear ranges. My LM r246 mount can handle 13/51 as its maximum gearing, which made it non competitive within a 3500kv class. Perhaps this limit with the kyosho 4100kv motor could be more appropriate.

PN v3.1 with the smallest rotor is 4000-4100kv, which could put it in similar power ranges with the kyosho. Only way to know is to test and evaluate in race conditions with cars around.

So after 4 days with the 1 degree steering blocs. I’m starting to think they might not be best on home track. To many low speed turns. Might be better on the big track. I was told low speeds it could effect the steering. The Kyosho “0” steering blocs are out of stock. PN doesn’t seem to list them the same. Which PN would be closest to stock?

Yeah, those are the closest to 0˚ stock. Did you check Banzai? They have the ones you were looking for, cheapest place, too.

I don’t even look overseas anymore. I had a nightmare with stuff from rcmart last winter. I can have stuff from Kenon in 2-3 days.
