I hope he changes his mind, a lot of still use 2/3 cells.

Hi, my micro currently has a stock motor. Any suggestions for more get up & go? I'd rather not use a big block so I'm limited to a "180" size motor. The car has a LRP Quantum (1/10 size) and A123 6.6 volt 1150 mah cells. It does not have to be a land missle. Weight is 14oz. Thanks, Don

If you gotta stay small, the best would be the orion coreless mod motor. It's not cheap though.

DLS II 03-24-2008 07:31 AM

OK, thanks-Don

MikeR 03-24-2008 02:51 PM

The mambas are also considered 180 size. You would only need to make the holes in the motor plate larger to accept 2.5mm screws.

MikeR 03-24-2008 02:55 PM

Roy- Yes, this is what I used at the HPI race:D

Maxime- Not sure the MRS4 can compete with the M18 still...

Marvett- Lipo only. Nimh is too cumbersome for the MRS4.

I knew it! I guess I should have taken a closer look at your car. I remember your chassis not having the battery slots in the bottom. Let us know when the new chassis is ready to ship.

DLS II 03-27-2008 08:11 AM

Hi, my Mamba is in my BRP. I've ordered an Orion Coreless, what gearing should I use? All I have on hand is HPI plastic pinions-will they work or should I get some set screw pinions? Thanks, Don

The plastic pinions won't hold up when the motor heats up. If you gear low, they might work. Check here for a smoking deal on pinion sets.

I was thinking about getting a Mamba 25/Sidewinder brushless combo and was wondering which motor would work best on our cars. 5400k, 6800k or 8000k, which is best? I'll be running on a 1/10 scale parking lot track most of the time.

MikeR 03-28-2008 12:01 PM

5400 if you want to be safe and 6800 if you think you can keep up with the car. Both are scary fast in the MRS4 with 7volts. :D

bigb11 03-28-2008 12:11 PM

MikeR, is your website having trouble? I can not get on.

Hello All,

This is the official announcement that the EXO3 pre order has begun! This is a very limited chassis release so get them while they are in stock!

Just poked around the pages and seems to be ok for me. You using firefox or the latest IE?

bigb11 03-28-2008 01:26 PM

I am using IE.

MikeR 03-28-2008 05:48 PM

You know what- my site is hosted by godaddy and it is down right now along with godaddy.com  great!

Rapid Roy 03-28-2008 08:43 PM

Oh boy!!! I'm assuming that 150mm is better for longer tracks right?

MikeR 03-29-2008 01:51 AM

Most cases yes. That's what I used at the HPI challenge. Only problem is 150mm bodies are hard to come by when you're talking about having to run an HPI body at a HPI event. The 140 bodies are so much better looking too but that's your call.:)

Hey Mike - so this new chassis cannot be switched back & forth between 140mm & 150mm??

Ya, I ended up butchering up a 140mm body to run in the challenge. I forgot that the wheel wells were pre cut and ended up with really big wheel wells.:ha:

Anybody using a 6800 mamba? I need help with pinion size, this is my first brushless motor.

I'll look at my motor tomorrow when I get into my Hobby pile - I was using a Tekin 6800 in my micro the last time, and I think I was plenty fast with my gearing :)

Just make sure you add some ballast on the chassis if you're planning on Lipo as well :) the mRS4 gets all "floaty" running the BL/Lipo combo :)

Start with a 10t and adjust from there by how hot the motor is.

bigb11 04-02-2008 01:24 PM

thanks!

Okay Mike, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Exo3. Am I going to need the soft spring for the shock? I'm going to order the extra screws too.

SN33KY 04-07-2008 02:05 AM

hey i need advice on a brushless system for the mrs4. It has alloy cvd's, brandnew front ball diff by GH ( bought it this morning) and soon to be rear ball diffs, it has a exotek 1 chassis but i dont like it so im gonna get either a penguin one or a holeshot engineering one. And it has alloy everywhere

So what brushless systems do you guys recommend for indoor drifting?

im thinking about the 4200kv mamba system. but are their any other combos i should consider? like hacker? or ammo? or jwerks <---cant find them for sale anywhere...

much help would be appreciated thanks

has anybody used HPI foams on parking lot?

It's good to have the soft as a inexpensive tuning item. The vcs kit includes the medium and firm spring.

Thanks!

Mike

Didnt work on our parking lot track. I recommend the rubber kit fronts with hpi rubber soft rears as a base tire set up.

Your EXO3 shipped today! :D

Guess I'm gonna need to get my order in shortly

Stock HPI speedo problem

I just received a used RTR car. It doesn't appear to have reverse. Is there a way to dial out reverse on these.... (actually put it back in). Or is there something wrong with the speedo?

Rapid Roy 04-14-2008 06:16 PM

Just got back to the office from a short vacation and found a present from Exoracing! Can't wait to build up my micro. Just need Lipo, new charger, and a brushless setup. Any advise for a deceint charger that won't break the bank. I have heard that a lipo charger doesn't have to be anything special..

Roy - what lipo pack are you going with?? I'm still deciding about pulling the trigger on the new chassis..

as far as a charger, I'd go with the ICE :) Its about $100 but does EVERYTHING from Lipo to Nimh :) so its good to have

Thanks for the tip!
I'm looking at the Apogee 1000mah lipos since thats what the chassis was designed for. I remember reading somewhere that the pack is short enough to mount longways front to back right in the center of the chassis. I'll be breaking out the calipers once I build and post results. BTW, I ordered the 150mm chassis. I know there are many more 140mm bodies, but I really need the stability.

I was looking at that pack - but its sold out when you click on the link that MikeR provides :( Do you know any other places that might sell those cells??

Maxamps has a small lipo back, pretty much same dimensions, just a little thinner that I might go with if I can't find the Apogee ones :(

I ordered the 140mm chassis...The last time I ran my micro at a challange, I ran 140 and ran 2nd in the "A" (before I crashed and finished 4th) so I'm going by what I know I'll like :)

Another charger I forgot was the Checkpoint charger - looks a lot like the ICE and has a better discharge rate (30amp) than the ICE, but it costs about $40-$60 more than the ICE...
