Broke the front wing adapter for the GLF-1 at the big track yesterday and forgot to pick up a replacement before I left. Will post a run before the month is out though.

I bailed on VT This weekend so my track is going up. Not a lot of time to get use to the track but I am going to see what I can do. I am excited to check out my stock car, made some changes to the front end and looking forward to seeing how it goes. I am also looking forward to getting some laps on the C5 Corvette body.
I have also been thinking about the March layout. Can you guys have room to go to 13 tiles long? To be honest I am not sure I can but I will figure that out this weekend. Cheers, Jim |
I actually managed to win a race last night with the GLF-1 due to other people having mechanical issues.
Didn't do so well on the Mini96 track today. Getting a little faster though. Sorry about the one false lap, not sure what the penalty for that is. I didn't have more time to perfect the timing setup. I am a slacker.
I set up the track Friday and ran some laps but planned on making some timed stints on Saturday. I had a few things planned and was out and about end ended up having lunch at the club with some friends and a pint or two.....that led to me inviting some friends over for dinner and numerous glasses of wine. They left pretty early so I attempted some laps but you know what does not work at all.....booze and Mini-Z's. No times for me in February. |

Hello all, Another month has come to an end and it is time for a new layout. I am home solo this weekend so I had to set up the track myself and in the chair I have an issue with reach so doing transverse section was almost impossible with me coming pretty darn close to falling out of the chair....woops.... So with that I went the easy route which has resulted in a bit of a boring circuit which will reward horsepower. I have run a few laps and it is actually not terrible and you can get into a cool cadence. So here it is, we are running Clockwise. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...2ecf796972.png Cheers, Jim |

February Results
Hello All,
Not a great showing in February which I find a bit surprising considering the number of participants in January. With that said we did have a time submitted in every class except Open AWD. Nice work all. Cheers, Jim |
I got some laps in this afternoon and evening and I am starting to get some pace on the new circuit.
First up with my Stock Car. My stock car has seen a number of changes over the last few weeks. I picked up a Reflex Adjustable upper tower a few weeks ago and installed it. After the install I noticed a significant amount of droop in the front end while trying to keep the arms flat. The car did not feel very terribly good and was not all that fast comparatively. I asked about droop in the Mini-Z thread and EMU told me that it is a bad thing so I set out to get rid of the droop and picked up the PN spring holder and spacers and shimmed the springs for no droop and really no pre-load. The car is starting to feel better but was still inconsistent, something I have learned from full scale and RC cars is if it feels off check the ride height. I did the old pencil trick and the nose of the car was rubbing so I raised the car .5mm and boom......much better. I have been running the F360 body but really wanted to try the C5R so I swapped it over and stuck with the offsets I have been using on the F360 (.5mm front/1.8mm rear). Right off the bat the car feels more stable but was off a tenth or two. I swapped out from a Kyosho M6 G10 T-Plate to a 3.6mm Reflex T-Plate and boom I was on par with the 360. I find the F360 pretty darty compared to the 575GTC that I also run on my 94mm car. The 575 is not the fastest body but it is just so easy to drive and consistent. Now that I have driven the C5R I would say it is right in between the 360 and the 575. I am guessing it is not as ultimately as fast as the 360 but it is easy to drive though having a regular Autoscale window in it makes it a bit tippy compared to the 360 with a Lexan window in it. With that said I am liking the C5R and it looks good doing laps. I broke out my Mod car as well. The last few sessions with it have not been great, it feels like I lost whatever drag brake I had in it and the car just felt off. This morning I went back to the base setting and went back to the 9t pinion from the 11t that was in there. It felt better but still was missing any drag brake so I programmed some more in. I balanced the car and went back to 1mm of droop in the rear and went from there. Now that I had drag brake I could stay on the throttle a bit longer and get the car to rotate, the car was much more drivable. I did some laps and and slowly took some droop out of the rear and I now have the car feeling pretty good. It always amazes me how just a 1/4 turn on the center spring perch is noticeable. Cheers, Jim |
The electricity is down at the office today so no server, phones, e-mail, etc. so I have had a bit of a slacker day today so I ran a bunch of laps.
I have not really spent any time on my 90mm car since I installed the PN MR9094 90mm Mid Mount so I figured I would give it some love. My 94mm Stock Car is is running pretty well so I have a decent base line to judge against. Over the last few months I had kind of opportunistically taken parts off the 90mm car and put a mishmash of parts back on it. I started with the car like it was and it was a bit of a handfull to say the least....it would easily traction roll and it felt like it had no steering. I took the PN Firms off the front and went to my normal set up of Med fronts and Soft rears. I know it takes a good 400 laps to get a consistent tire so I ran laps and got comfortable with the car. The steering was somewhat better but it was still traction rolling a lot so I started looking at the front end. I had put some Kyosho 2* knuckles on it and just threw some spacers on it resulting in a lot of camber curve. I took the 2* knuckles off and put on a set of Reflex 1* knuckles back on and found that he reflex knuckles and 1.4mm shorter than the Kyopsho's. I tried a number of different setup with shims both on the king pins and springs and by the 4th try I was onto something. The car was feeling pretty good and the traction rolling was all but gone. I still could use some more on throttle steering so I played with the spring on the disk dampener and that helped a bit. All in all the car is feeling pretty good and I turned a race time within 6 seconds of my 94mm car and the fats lap within .04 seconds. I am pretty happy with the results considering the first 150 laps I could barely get into the 4's. I had also forgotten just how much fun it is to drive a 90mm car, the mid-mount takes away some quirkiness of the rear mount but it is still a very different experience from my longer min-mount cars......and the GT1 is such a cool body. Cheers, Jim |
