My Thoughts on December Runs

I was disappointed that I couldn't beat my November clockwise times running counter clockwise in December, which feels more natural to me. I was about 2 seconds slower in both Box Stock and Stock in December and feel like I could have done better with a little more track time. Was also disappointed that I couldn't get a good run in Pro Stock and even put an Open 2WD car on the track in December, but I ran out of time. I look forward to getting more track time in in January, despite some work travel and am excited that we will be having some new participants joining us this year, including a friend of mine that lives near by. Happy new year to everyone! Drive fast!

I don't think so.

I have found that if I place the phone in a different spot it dosnt read accurate as to when I have it in the usual location. Light plays a big part. If I put it under the light that's over my bench it counts better than if i put it further away. It's just what I have found on android's. I still have issues with missing laps but once I get it to do a practice 75 and I notice no miss laps I go for a run with all my cars 1 after another

I got my new transmitter, I got the track, but is missing MR-03EVO boards / reciever to do some laps. I hope to make January laps though.
I will only be running "Stock".
Need to get my Mini-Z going again

I've got the new track layout setup and it's a lot of fun, I'd say even more technical than last month. One thing I learned is that I need to pull all the outside rails and swap them so they match the tiles underneath. Right now they're opposite shapes and it's a pain to move sections around.

I accidentally bought some PN rear slick tires instead of radials but we'll give them a test and see how they go.

Noob....
I have never done that....

If you are able to run with the same type of tires for some time, the track will respond to that kind of rubber in a good way.
Marka and PN is quite good tires, but if you switch brand a lot, you might see a difference in handling. But the slicks are often better than radial on tracks with higher grip.
If you experience low grip, you might want to vacume and "wash" your track. Then run a couple of 1000 rounds to get back up at max speed again
If the floor is cold, you also lose grip.

It's a brand new track and never been washed or vacuumed so I should probably do that. I might just throw all of it into the sink with some simple green.

oh, it takes "ages" to dry up.
Vacum first, then spray a thin layer of clean water on it. Just to bind some shit up.
Then wait 30 min and vacum again.
You can do this a couple of times for a new track. You can also use a carpet cleaner.

When it's all dried up and vacumed, then you just run as much as you possibly can on the track without trying to beat your record.
Just many laps to lay some rubber on the track.

Remember to cool down the electronics and motor, so maybe just 20-25 min stints and a charging break before doing another 20-25 min stint.
Since it's a new track, it will take "some" laps to be good. Back in the day, our tracks got WAY BETTER after 2000 laps. So an "old" track often has better grip than a new track. So invite all your friends and drive the hell out of it in the start....
But, washing it is still much better than driving on industrial and shipping dust.... :-D

Wow you are running F1 on a 60cm track! Respect man, that is hard!

Ok thanks for the advice, I will bust out the vacuum. I should have washed it first but was excited to get it setup. I hope to get a bunch of practice in this month so that should lay down some rubber.

It's got the roller wing which helps and at the time I just wanted to put in an entry because I was running out of time. Not sure it's going to have enough steering to handle the Jan layout.

I didn’t do any prep on my new Mini-96 when I first got it. Just ran hundreds of laps. I have vacuumed it a couple of times since, to get pet hair and dust off, but haven’t found it necessary to do anything else.

I am also partial to Kyosho tires, which is what is primarily run at the local tracks I race at.

Scionara05 01-01-2020 04:12 PM

Same all I did was just put it down run vacuum it run more and swept it with a stiff bristle broom run more then vacuum again

I would personally not do a lot to a new track, Maybe wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth and that is about it. I would be nervous about getting the solution into the pores of the track.

that is my $0.02.

cheers,
Jim

Track finally setup and I got to run about 200 laps last night! Couple of issues with LapTracker missing a few laps or posting a really quick lap. I will work on the placement of the device and see if i can fine tune it but overall really good.

Now to work on my setup and driving skills :).....
