Motor Mount-Nexx 90/94mm MM
Dampener (If applicable)- PN DDS Purple top and Bottom springs
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-Dry
Gearing- 13/53 PN Ball Diff
Notes- Car had a BAD habit of whipping the rear in turn 5, and changing directions with any breaks applied!! I tried MANY rear tires to help, and the best I could get were some old KSM, but almost new thickness, on some flanged PN 0 wheels, worked the best. BUT it was still there!!! VERY SMOOTH inputs were needed to keep it going in the right direction!

I forgot to put the rear dish wheels back on for the pic. The bronze wheels was the last I tested on it, and they were a touch slower.

Can't really compare AAA to Lipo. Pro Stock could also be higher KV brushless if that is what you are after. AAA Stock 3500 is a class a lot of clubs run, so it makes sense it exists here too. Both classes are fun though, and in either you can run a PN2.5 chassis so there are plenty of options!

Joel hit the nail on the head, the extra power of the Lipo makes the comparison apples and oranges. I have driven Stock and ProStock on AAA Brushed and Brushless, and on the Mini96 they are pretty close in their classes. The PN 70T and a BL 3500/4100kv in stock, and a PN 50T is close to the 5500/5600kv. I have no doubt on a bigger track the difference would be more, but on the Mini96 Jim set the classes up very well!

Both my Stock and ProStock chassis are PN 2.5W, and are only held back by my skill. They are FAST!

Holler with any questions! There's alot to figure out at this scale, and everyone runs different classes and rules so it gets confusing QUICK!

Just so I have an idea what I’m up against, what are some baseline times for a box stock Mr-04 on this months new track. Just got the track setup a week ago so new to all this. Definitely need some tires.

WELCOME to the Challenge!!

I'm watching Cup practice at Texas Motor Speedway now, and charging AAAs. I'll run a set of BoxStock laps in a bit and post up, but going off my few runs so far with my Open (4.0xx) and Stock (4.3xx), I'm guessing a 4.5-4.8 fast lap and probably a 5 second average lap with a pretty clean run.

I posted those on the Facebook page, but after a little tweaking I'll run and post here.

Have fun is the most important thing! It can get frustrating at times, so just try to focus on clean laps, and ignore the times. Time will come down, Slow is Consistent, and Consistent is FAST over 75 laps. I usually run my best times when i run NextLevel Timing in race mode. It then only beeps with a completed lap, and not call out each lap time. It lets my mind think of 1 less thing! When practicing I will run in Practice mode to know where im at, but most End of Month (EOM) times in Race Mode.

Hope this helps, and holler with ANYTHING!

ok, that actually does help, thanks! I’ve noticed the slower I drive, the faster my laps, current fastest lap is 5.9. But I figure with the tires I have on order, I can build up a bit more speed. But I’ll continue to work on clean/consistent laps.

Tires are a HUGE deal with these cars! I was ok on Kyo tires, 30* low height front slicks &20* rear radials, but once I got my cars setup changed to handle PN/Marka tires I dropped a half second! You will have a Traction Roll (TR) machine when you first change, as they have soo much more grip. But get your ride height to just under 2mm in the front and just over 2mm in the rear, mount the body as low as possible without tire rub, and you'll be surprised how fast the car will be. I tend to run PN KS1138 (KS Low Height Medium Fronts) and Marka V1R10 ( Soft Slick Rears) on most of my cars, but on BoxStock I change the rears to PN KS Soft Radials. They help plant the rear in the corners of the light BoxStock chassis.

I tended to run a very stiff chassis when I started, Yellow front springs and a #5 pn carbon fiber t plate, but as I have learned more, I now have gone much softer! Red front springs and #2 Spring Steel t plate. That was last month with the open sweeping track, so I will probably stiffen it up a little, but we'll see.

The O'Reilly's race is fixing to start, and racing is all I have a schedule to watch, I stream 99% of the time😜. I got a set of batteries ready to go and the car is cleaned and ready for the new month.
Fingers crossed the steering holds! I'll post up ASAP!

There's lots of great reading on this page and the mini z page that will start to get your mind wrapped up in the world of Mini-Z, but just don't get too lost in all the radio protocols. The WHITE ANNTENA MR03/04 Readysets will work on your BoxStock radio or NB4. Main thing is learning the tiny adjustments and how they effect the cars at this scale. Best thing I learned is change 1 thing at a time, drive it on the clock and see what it did. Take notes and go from there. Sometimes what feels better is slower. Speed will come with practice, thats really the answer at this scale! I've become a mid pack driver with the current group, and I'm super happy with that, as 4 years ago I would have NEVER imagined I'd be able to drive that well! Some pick.it up quickly and some are dang neer Super Human (hint, hint, Joel)😝id love to see a side by side video of his runs, 1 on the car on track and 1 on his radio inputs!! But really your racing yourself,.so just try to improve 1 thing every run, and you'll get to speed quickly.

Wakerider113,
Here's my first BoxStock run on the May layout. It was a pretty clean run, and just a hair of tweaking will be better, My rear is light, and will whip around at turn 1, I'm also on 2 wheels in many of the tight 180*s, which is almost every corner! :p This was my exact setup as April, but I turned the throttle D/R down from 100% to 92%. I will probably be back at 100% soon, but that's exactly how I ran. Steering rate is 74%. Again a LONG run compared to last month, but fun and pretty forgiving.

LIttle practice and limited timed runs, all last minute and the results are obvious. Going CCW took a long time getting used to. Gotta get more track time in May.

Had a pretty clean run with the OPEN MRX ME this afternoon!

I put the MWX Slipper Diff back in it as the Atomic Ball diff is loud, and the PN Gear Diff I have is rough. I was able to hit a 4.0xx lap finally, but I was a bit smoother with the GearDiff, but hope with a little driving I can get used to the MWX diff and get into the 5:20s! I was doing a bit of radio adjusting the first 10 laps, so a mid 5:20s should be possible with a clean run! Hope Yall are enjoying the new layout, and I'll tally last months times this afternoon!
