VERY CLEAN RUN with my ProStock!!!
I measured my front tires and they were very low (19.9mm), but not quite paper thin. So I decided to try my standard tire setup, which is +1mm-19mm fronts with PN KS1138 tires taped with PN tape and +2mm-20mm rears with Marka V1R10 taped. I used Black 3D wheels with #8 disks on front/ none rear. The chassis is sitting higher than I normally run ( 2.2mm front 2.4mm rear), but I decided to try it and DAMN it was GOOD!!!! It has just a hint of TR, but I can still drive it hard. I will probably lower the front to see if I can get it all out, but it was almost easy to drive a 2.9xx second lap! I also set up the steam humidifier in the room which has the humidity up to 70%, and I wet mopped the track with a microfiber towel on my Swiffer sweeper so I don't have to bend! Anyway, here's the run, and if I can get the TR out, I can hopefully break 3:40!!! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...7f4d56f1cb.png https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...d754223b1b.jpg |
Hey Rickz, WELCOME to the Challenge!!!
You can find the rules and classes on the first page of this thread, or pinned in the featured section of the FaceBook thread. We have updated them on the facebook rules to include a few updates/changes that have come along since 2019. It sounds like you have a car to run in most classes we have!! AWESOME!!! BoxStock- radio is open, wheels- make open but must be 20mm, We don't have a F1 class Your AAA spec car will probably be in the Stock class, I think either PoorBoy or Traveler2 label their Stock cars that way. Your Lipo car would fit in the Open Class Porsche in the Porsche class, which we have a good group of them so it's great to have another! Your 5600kv will fit ProStock And we have a AWD class too! That's the only class I don't have a car for that others sometimes run (also 86mm class but few run it as bodys are expensive!) I was a GLA, but I keep upgrading what I have with my fun money!:p PoorBoy has both a MA02 and a Open AWD (which is MA03 and Pan chassis), and I think there aew a few other MA02 drivers out there, so if Ya run yours I bet they would join ya! We have a great group of guys, who are down to help! I really LOVE dealing with people and times here, but most will post quick questions or BS on the Facebook Mini96 page! So Holler at us over there too! I'm Andy Curington there, and the current Moderator, and Poor_Boy (David K.) and Traveler2 (Marwan) are there and the past 2 Mods, and are super helpful! So anything ya need just holler, and I'll/We'll get ya going asap! Again WELCOME to the Fold!!!:sneaky: |
Thank you for all the information on what I need to do went over the rules and I will definitely get cars ready to go. I did notice in box stock that 98mm is the limit mine right now is setup at 102 mm with lm body so will have to change it back to 98mm. Other cars I just need to change pinion gears on and I should be ready to go
|
102mm cars are now OK in BoxStock! We did that after Kyo released the 102mm Readysets again! And yes 7T pinions are mandatory. Sorry about the confusion! I updated the rules in the pined rules on Facebook, but I can't here since LJH is the Father of the Challenge and it's his post the rules are on.
Great to have another driver join us! |
Getting my 911 GT3 RS running well! Took some tinkering, but it's almost perfect!!
I went back to KSK40 on 19mm +1mm w/#2 disks on the front anf Marka V1R10 on 20mm 0mm rears. It'd perfect with just a hint of TR in turns 1&2 if I get heavy on the throttle! Just 4 tenths from braking 4 minutes!!! That one darn doink at lap 37 cost me!!! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...4025e89ef5.png |
HELL YEAH!!! I FINALLY BROKE 4 Minutes with my 911!!!
After romoving the rear wing and the PN Dual Spring Top Shock and going to a #4 Nexx Racing carbon T Plate the car is ON RAILS!!! 99% of the TR is gone and I can really push it! I had 1 stupid Doink on the turn 3/4 wall towards the end of run , but other than that is was a SUPER CLEAN RUN FOR ME!!! I will continue to run the 911, but I bet this will be my End Of Month time!! Class- PORSCHE Date- 12/15/2025 Location- Central Texas Race Time- 233.864 / 3:53.864 Fastest Lap- 2.932 Chassis- MR04EVO Body- Porsche 911 GT3 RS (MZN232) Wheelbase- 90mm Tires-F- PN KSK 540 / R-Marka V1R10 Wheels- F-PN N +1mm 19mm Blue 3D Disk #2 blk dsk / R- W 0mm 20mm Black 3D no dsk Motor-PN Anima V4 3500Kv Sensored Batteries- GensAce 750HV Front Springs- PN Green T-Plate- #4 Nexx Racing Black Carbon Fiber Motor Mount-Nexx Racing 90/94mm RM Dampener (If applicable)- PN DDS (Purple top disk/Green bottom spring) Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-Dry Gearing-12/53 PN Ball Diff Notes- Finally got it dialed in!! Throttle at 90%, steering at 82% and 30% negative expo. Chassis is SLAMMED to get the TR gone! Front is a 1.4mm rear at 1.8mm. Tires have maybe 2 weeks left, so when I put new tires on the ride height will be back to my normal, close to 2mm. I bet one of the FAST guys could shave at least another 5 seconds off as 2.9xx second laps were very doable!!! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...ce55e00cbd.png https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...c79e7dd19e.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...afeed65ab3.jpg |
Thanks for all the help on Facebook. I finally got everything I needed to get started delivered today. I doubt I’ll post any times this month. I may just start with the Jan layout. How soon do you post next months layout?

Have done a few runs with the Porsche and the box stock. Porsche felt sluggish and it has been hard to improve, but at least got a consistent run from box stock, 4:04 with a fast of 3.042, Not sure I'm going to improve on that.
My PN2.5/Readyset brushed car seems to have partially died, the steering works but lost drive. Not sure what that could be... This month I cut the roof off of two Jomuremas (Hobby Addicts had a sale) and just got the second one finished. Looks ok from a distance, but clean finish work has never been my forte. I'm seriously the guy that ends up with a finger glued to something. lol |
Wish i had more time this month the cars are coming around and i was just starting to get comfortable with pushing them around this quick layout! But im not going to be able to run the rest of the month so posting my final runs now. the PN Stock I am way off potential for sure lol...Class- Box Stock

Rctech.net is the official home and we really want everyone to post their official times here, though some only post on FB, so I check both places. FB is just hard to keep track of, since it bumps posts to the top when comments are added. Rctech always stays in chronological order, so its easy to find everything! So if i ever miss or screw up anything, just holler! I'm stoked to have another driver join us, and holler with anything! Take Care Yall and Happy Holidays!!! Drew |

It took a bit of tweaking, but i finally got my 911 to run well. Just keep at it, and change 1 thing at a time, then test. Hate ur having issues with ur 2.5/readyset! Ive fried 2 readyset boards! 1 just smoked after i turned it on.??? The second the forward drive burned up. If it's newish, and you have a receipt, email kyo for support/service, and they have been good to me! Usually you can see a bad Fet(black square chips by the motor wires on the board). They will be stolen or i had 1 completely fey and fall.off the board!😜 They both acted like ur talking about. Steering and no drive. I love the Lexan roof Jomu!!! I have 2 with lexan roofs and 1 with lexan windows. The lexan roof jomu has a$$!!! They are hard to get to look perfect, but with a little dremeling or file/sand paper work you can get them pretty good! Oh, and I too tend to super glue my fingers to stuff or each other most the time!!😜😆 |
Sorry,.phone double posted!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!! |
Getting started with Mini 96 challenge
Hi all, I recently bought a Mini 96 track + Lapmonitor and planning to join in on the challenge, seems like a great way of getting some racing in when the weather is not cooperating. I had a few Mini Z's gathering dust on a shelf that I've tried out thus far, nothing is really properly setup for racing and I have no prior 1/28th scale racing experience.
So far, I've tried the following (all with Flysky Noble transmitter): MR04 EVO2 5600kV with McLaren P1 GTR body (Kyosho 10° Radial rear, 20° Radial front): This was way overpowered with almost no throttle modulation for such a narrow track, in hindsight 5600kV wasn't the best choice. This is going back on the shelf unless I swap out the motor. MR03 Readyset with stock tires and Mazda Roadster body: This brushed setup was much more manageable than the EVO2, though there was quite a bit of rear end skipping, traction wasn't great and understeers. MA020 AE86 body with Kyosho radial rubber tires: This has been the best performing car so far, but I prefer the RWD classes. I'm thinking to stick to the box stock class for now and considering a few options. Option 1: Use the MR03 Roadster and upgrade the tires, t-plate and front springs and add wheel discs to the front. Option 2: Everything in option 1 but also convert from 90mm to 98mm and use the McLaren P1 GTR body from my EVO2. Option 3: Grab a new 102mm or 98mm MR04 and also make the essential box stock upgrades. Ignoring cost, which of these options seems like the best way to go? Or any other suggestions on getting started? Thanks in advance and looking forward to joining in! Edit: Just found the ESC settings on the NB4 for the EVO2, and after a bit of taming it feels great! Easily the best performing of the bunch. I'll be updating it with all the essential hop ups. Now just need to decide on what to do about a box stock car, leaning towards grabbing a new 102mm MR04... |
