Could we design some tracks and submit them for possible use?

I have heard that before, but sometimes you have to learn the limit to find that 100% and back off as necessary to 90%. and yes, even if i have to slow down in my laps just to prevent an accident, is better than having a mistake.

definitely this... losing ..5 seconds or so on a wall glance or a light bump-and-go will be much better than a full stop or a hard bump where you roll back... 75 laps is tough. i find that somewhere in the 40-50 range i usually lose focus for just a bit and have a few close calls or mishaps... whether or not those are the mild bad laps determines if the overall is a good run or not.
I also noticed wheels tucked in the body are less prone to snagging on the wall, which is why I am now using 0 offset up front. I turn the wheel to see if the tire is exposed outside of the wheel well to choose the offset. This also prevents knuckles from breaking. Maybe not optimal for racing with the narrow offset, but have to find the lesser of two evils. With better driving style, most likely don't need to worry. Initially at first I would ride the walls, but after finding a better line resulted in better driving style. |

I say the same thing every month when Poor_Boy and I chat. The more clean laps you run, the lower your time will go.
Another thing that helped me was when a local experienced racer told me, "90%. You should only drive at 90%." |
I ran the GLR this morning and I'm dialing in on the best setup for me, but I ran the best at 54% throttle. I tried bumping up, but I got slower times while going faster with more mistakes. More details in the GLR thread. Anyway here's the first run on the clock with the GLR in this months layout.

The room I have the track in can only go 1 maybe 2 tiles longer and 2 tiles wider, but I don't know if others have more room, so I kept the designs to 12x8 tiles. |
Those running open class do you gear smaller pinions due to the tight track? My open BL2500 is usually only .1-.2 faster than my box stock but since swapping to the pro match PN pinion in box stock they're almost identical for hot laps... Wondering if I need to gear for more low end and corner exit pull since we don't have any long straights to run out taller gearing...

AM03GT, I usually start with any of my BrushLess at 11/53, stock to open. Then if I need more out of a turn I'll bump down a tooth, or if I need more roll through a corner I'll bump up, then adjust the throttle d/r to adjust speed for the track. Really just a personal feel. I'm just getting started with a true open chassis, and learning the GL ESC, but it's settings don't feel much different than the ICS settings on an 03/04EVO.
That said, for me when I've been learning and getting faster, no matter what car i'm driving, I'm usually within .3-.4 on my lap times. Now my overall times will be different as I can recover much faster with BL vs. BoxStock. |

Here's a few layouts I've thought up. I have not tried them yet, so take that into consideration.
#1 https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...ec4540df4e.png #2 https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...8a15254e5c.png #3 https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...1302ec6e6b.png #4 https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...fd2723e366.png These are some of the more difficult layouts. I have some fast flowy layouts too, if that's more what yall are looking for. |
A few of the flowy layouts.
#5 https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...b877ab267d.png #6 https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...73246db7af.png #7 https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...2ff17c723f.png #8 https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...8bba90c429.png #9 https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...196508a964.png |
OR if we want to get crazy, we can go back to a Loop Cross Over layout. A cross over layout was the first track I started on. It's tricky, but fun.

OR if we want to see how fast we can make ourselves dizzy, here's an oval.:p
