Traveler is correct, once you get it down and loop the tight turns it really flows! It seems to be made for SWB cars. My 911 shoots the corners very well! I did a little Dremel surgery in the 911 window. Since it is a early body the plastic is thick and no lexan windows are available I cut the center window plastic that is covered by the body and pulled almost 2 grams. Plastic Surgery glued it in and I get just of hint of T.R. ( i can hear the diff spin up when the inside rear tire looses contact with the track but doesn't continue to roll) when hammering through the 90* at high speed instead of having to let off the throttle and still getting on 2 wheels. You can also see where I dremeled the rear inner fender to clearance +1mm W 20mm wheels. I still get a very tiny rub on the left rear even running low height slicks due to the Nexx RM 90/94mm pod being off center.

Anyway, keep up the practice on this tricky layout, because when you get it down it's actually quick!

Well I after a lot of running with my BoxStock, I never could get it to run like I wanted. It handled well but just no power. I popped open the factory motor to clean and inspect, and while it was a bit dirty, the brushes and comm were good. So I brought out the parts bin, and changed it from a 98mm MM pod, to a 90mm RM pod, and I only have a Kyo Gear Diff so I slapped it in there ( basically Travelers MX-5 setup), and it ran well, but it had HUGE traction hop under acceleration and it made the back end squirrely and spin out in the corners. I tried all I could think of to get it to calm down, and the PN dual spring center shock, helped a lot, but I knew it could be better. So I swapped the Kyo RM pod for a Nexx 90/94mm RM pod. Both I ran a PN70T which ran tons better than the Kyo white endbell, so bad motor?
With the Nexx pod and PN 70T the wheel hop is almost gone. Also I had to go to N +1mm in the rear, as the W-1mm wheels wouldn't work as the wheel contacted the diff hub before it was anywhere near tight.
So for now I will be running Stock, ProStock, Porsche, Narrow, and MX-5. I may go back to BoxStock someday, but of now I enjoy the 90mm RM cars A LOT more than BoxStock. I also put my R8 2015 on my stock chassis and I like it more than the 12C. The R8 2015 does grab the walls a bit more than the 12C, but it the R8 turns better for me and I can get back to the power faster and my times are showing it! The front splitter is still factory length on the R8 (to be 100% legal for BoxStock) so that doesn't help with the wall grabbing, but I should just stay off the walls more!
Thanks for the thoughts on my health! I'm a bit better, but my spine is FUBAR, so my Pain Dr. tries his best to keep me going! But Yall keep me sane with this AWESOME Challenge! So A HUGE THANK YOU to all that keep this FUN challenge going, and for all the help yall provide!

Going to the Nexx RM pod stopped a lot of the on power rear wheel hop, but I still have more than I like! If I'm super easy on throttle it doesn't do it, but I'm slow! To have any speed it hop city.
So my question is: Is the wheel hop just something you have to live with when on narrow rear wheels? It's running with a PN 70T, since it's a Ready Set board no Brushless
, so the Axel is at it's highest ride height to get track clearance and I have to run normal height tires to keep the Spur off the track, which I only have a few sets to try. I'm pretty sure I have KS-M softs on there now, and I figure it's hopping due too much traction with the amount of power. So maybe gear up with a larger pinion, I have a #5 t-plate carbon but I have #3 and #4s too, PN Dual Center shock w/ spring kit to adjust. I also have the Inner Tube Shock Set w/ springs if that will help!
Any Ideas? Thanks in advance! Drew
p.s. I will go to a EVO board asap. Hopefully a MR03 EVO, if I can find one, if not it will be an MR04, but that complicates things with the power of the MR04. Most say the 5500kv is about the same power as a stock Kyo motor, but Porsche and Narrow rules say 3500kv /4100kv Kyo max. So will there be an MR04 allowance for larger Kv motors?
9/6 update: After running and tweaking I got the majority of the hop out. I went from a 9t to a 10t pinion (largest .5 mod I have), adjusted the damper post rearward and adjusted the dual shock. It is mainly hopping now when I put too much power down in the corners. I had +1mm N on all 4 corners, but it kept climbing the walls when I brushed the them, so I went to 0mm N fronts and that problem too was solved. And no additional traction roll is apparent with the change.
I also added 10g of weight, because it was only 150g! So I put 2.5g of tungsten putty in each battery channel, and a 2.5g stick on weight on the top of the carbon fiber front clip, and one on the t-plate mount bar of the Nexx RM pod. So, the weights will be played with to see how it changes the handling.
I am betting the rest of the hop will be gone when I'm able to get a EVO board and go Brushless and adjust the axel height down and the lighter motor, as my 911 chassis has no hop and is basically the same setup just BL. So for now I will keep doing minor tweaks, but it LOVES this track layout!

Not easy to stay off the walls for 75 laps on this layout. Wish this was cleaner but wanted to get some video up before the end of the month.

Man, that's some nice driving PoorBoy!!! You were quieter and cleaner when you expressed your frustration at your hang up with the wall the I am!
When I screw up a great run I tend to get a bit loud! LOL Again THANK YOU for posting the videos! I understand how to improve my runs by seeing and hearing how you run soo well! That body rocks too!
On my MX5 I went to a #5 Nexx t-plate and yellow springs on the top shock, and the hopping was almost gone with the throttle at 85%, but when I bumped it up above 90% it starts the hopping again. I have it all the way at 100% and the car halls arse, and only hints at traction roll when I come around the 90* corner at high speed and the rear end hops when I get back on throttle. It drives well with the Kyo Gear Diff, but I bet it will be much better with a PN Ball Diff so i can run +1mm W rear wheels again. I'm going to swap around some Diffs and see how it goes and report back. If it doesn't help, I'm going to order a Kyo MR03 chassis and swap my PN 2.5 EVO Stock chassis over so it will be Narrow Class legal, and tun my MX-5/Narrow chassis as Brushless and the Stock chassis Brushed.

That made me laugh PoorBoy!!!
I switched the MX5 from the Kyo. Factory Gear Diff to a PN Gear Diff, so I could try running -1mm W rear wheels to see if that helped with the remaining wheel hop. I helped a bit, but it has to be the forward rake caused by the axel having to be run at max running height to get the PN 70T ground clearance. As it's the same setup as my 911 other than the motor and ride height and the 911 doesn't even hint at hop! My stock chassis now has the Kyo. Gear Diff and it runs well with the PN 3500Kv in the Multi Mount. So I guess I'll order a Kyo. MR03 chassis to replace the PN 2.5W chassis to be Narrow legal and move the ReadySet to 94/98mm Stock chassis until I get a MR03EVO or MR04EVO. I haven't found a MR03EVO board just 03EVO Chassis "roller". The only thing stopping me from buying an MR04 is the speed thing.
Anyway have fun and Drive Fast! Drew

the top isn't on the MX-5 because it is sanded, prepped, and masked awaiting paint, but it just a few grams. To those with 3D printers, how hard would it be to print out a "roll cage" to make our MX-5s look like this?

clip of pic from Motor Trend.
I thought it could possibly attach to the forward top plate damper screw holes, then you could Dremel the top off leaving the windshield. Make since? Hard to put into words what I see in my head. I'll try to draw it out in Paint and I'll post it. Anyway I'm rambelin on at 04:20!

Just a very rough drawing with my Mad Paint skills!
I would add cross mount braces to make it look real. just a thought to make the MX-5 look like a real race car! Anyway just a thought.

Well hopping problem solved! I ordered a new Kyo. MR03 chassis, so I swapped out the EVO from the Stock PN chassis into my BoxStock chassis allowing me to go Brushless and drop the axle and Narrow class legal . It is now hop free, fast, and smooth! Also no need for a top shock either.
So for now I will build up my Stock chassis with my ReadySet board with a PN 70T in either a Multi Mount or 94/98mm V3 pod, a PN Ball Diff, when my parts come in next week to complete it. I just enjoy BoxStock the least out of the Classes we run and I have chassis for. I'll go back to BoxStock someday after I get another MR03/04 EVO. For now I'm waiting on parts and I NEED to get busy painting bodies!
