Up all night so I did a bit of testing of wheels and tires on the Merc C9.
The above combo of Marka/PN was good but lacked a bit of steering. So I went to PN KS-M LH Wide Med, and W-PN BBS 0mm, and the steering got better. Last I kept the 1mm wide fronts and switched to 14mm PN KS-M Soft Radials on Reflex Speed Dish 0mm. And WOW did both steering and speed increase! The wide wheel/tire combo didn't do much on the 787B, compared to new KS-Ms, but greatly improved the C9! I'll run a set of laps for time later today, but I think they will be fast, for me! :p
Here's a few pics with the new wing and Wide Wheel Setup.

Hey Guy’s, a buddy has a diy track and asks if we could participate in a unofficial manner, he can change the layout to anything y’all make?

Sooo there’s mine, pn white springs in the front with low down knuckles, I don’t know who makes that disk damper, a pn v4 motor pod, with a pn carbon fiber #4 t-plate printed rims with kyosho 30‘s ( low profile) and 20‘s in the back slicks all the way around, works pretty good so far, stock motor and it’s a never ever board

What class would that car put me in?

Hi Phatz, what’s the white bracket on the side of the battery compartments? I assume it’s 3D printed?

How Yall doing midmonth going CCW?

I've been running my Box Stock, Stock, ProStock, and Porsche, and the fastest lap I can turn with all but the BoxStock is a 3.9, and that's if I hit everything perfectly. A 4.2 is a good and stable lap for me. I've tried my Stock at 102mm with both the C9 and 787B, and now it's at 98mm topped with a 12C. I like the steering of the C9, but I tend to traction roll more with it than the 787B. I'm more consistent with the 787B, but I've had it longer. But with the 102mm cars if I overshoot the corners I wind up in the wall. The 12C at 98mm is more forgiving with my lack of skill, so I turn better lap times overall with it.

Right now I have the 12C setup with Kyo 1.5mmN w/ PN KSK40* LP up front with PN BBS +2mmW w/ KS-M soft radials, and it's turning well and stays shiny side up unless I get heavy on the throttle in the 90*s! I think my track is getting too dusty, so I'm going to clean it midmonth since the a/c got replaced and stirred up a bunch of crap! I usually clean it with a damp micro-fiber towel when we change the track layout, so I hope cleaning it doesn't screw up my times too bad.

Hey Phatz 60, did you print the spoiler on the Orange Jomu?

Hey Phatz 60, did you print the spoiler on the Orange Jomu?

Drew a friend printed it for me, I know several guy’s that rock with printers, that spoiler is from thingyverse that’s where the stl came from.
Later Walt

BoxxerBoyDrew 08-20-2024 10:48 PM

Cool Deal Walt! It looks like it should be pretty effective while not being super tall like the aftermarket Jomu wings. I wonder about the height of the aftermarket wings and their help with down force vs. added weight up high, raising C.G.?

I like the Lexan wings from PN so far. The V2 is wider than the V1 and fits the Jomu better.

I adjusted the ride height of my ProStock and it's, scratch that I'm, able to turn more consistent 3.9s and a few 3.8s squeaked in there too!:sneaky: That's with Marka V1R10s rear and PN KSM Med LH fronts, but to get to make it through the switch backs the steering d/r is at 100% I'll try it tomorrow with PN KSM Rear Radial softs and see what the times do. The car is wicked fast and I bet PoorBoy or Traveler2 would be much faster with it than I.

BoxxerBoyDrew 08-22-2024 12:43 PM

Well I vacuumed the track, and between that and 10% higher humidity today my ProStock went from a fast lap of 3.8 to a 4.3. So I switched to PN KSM Soft Radials( very worn), and went to a 4.1 with the steering d/r set at 90% down from 100%, last I removed the top disk of my DDS and I went to a 3.9 fast lap and much more predictable car with an avg lap of 4.2 over 40 laps. The weather is supposed to change here over the weekend, so we'll see how it effects the cars. :p

A bit later I tried running my Box Stock, which I had almost new KS-M Soft Radial rears on the R8, and it had WAY TOO much steering even with the D/R to 75% I was on my lid if I had any kind of speed through the 90s! So I swapped the almost slick KS-M soft rad. off my Pro Stock and the newish radials off the R8. I'll run them tomorrow, and hopefully they will balance everything out.

Getting closer to my time from last month. Same setup as before and the car is running really well. Just need to be a bit more consistent. 3.92 best fast lap, usually 4.00-4.12 fast laps box stock. 4.4 ish average lap though but coming down slowly.
