Traveler, I have burned my lip more times than I can count! LOL but it taught me the relation between gearing and motor heat quickly!

chjosi, what did you soak your bearings in? I first tried 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for an hour or so, but there was still oil/grease in them. So I went to Mineral Spirits, and a 15 minute soak, and bam, free spinning bearings. I bought some SLIP Oil from Avid and it works very well. Just a tiny drip is all it takes.

The weather here is crazy and changing traction/handling bigtime! It's going to be in the 70s for the next few days, so hopefully they will settle down for a few good runs before the end of the month!
Take Care and Drive Fast Guys!!! Drew

I also made a bearing wash using a large medicine bottle and a few strong neo magnets on the side (outside). I'll soak them in the bottom for 15 minutes or so, then swish it around to stick the bearings to the side and swish it a few times, give it a minute then remove the bearings and blow them out. Oil and run.
I made it when everyone was out of the premade bearing washers with the screen basket, and it worked so well I saved myself the $15.
I also used to use white gas/lantern fuel to clean rc and auto bearings, so you can try that too.

Glad to have you HeyDay! Always happy to have another racer, and don't worry about speed it will come with practice! You have some nice rides too, and I can't wait to see some pics. It can take up to 20 posts, but usually around 10.
On a side note, I'm at a loss after doing my taxes!!! WHAT A JOKE! my wife and I make 1/20th of my parents, and we pay more in taxes!
Well off to try to take my frustrations out on the track!
Drive Fast! Drew

Thanks Drew, I'm glad to be part of the fun. Taxes can be so frustrating, I'm not looking forward to prepping mine soon, but ya gotta do what ya gatta do. Good Luck!

Notes-All of a sudden, my ASF McLaren F1 LM is slower and this car is faster this month, the opposite of last month. But today I noticed it was slower and not at consistent. Pulled the motor out and inspected the brushes, and they may be shot, which would be the first Kyosho motor that I've successfully killed.

Notes-Switched from the Jomurema body I run with others at the track back to the 458 body I only run at home, which has great balance. I also experimented with several different 50ish turn motors I've had laying around for well over 10 years and this PN Speed07BB II (from 2007) was the quickest, beating the XSpeed I normally run by just under 4 seconds.

Welcome to the Challenge! You must be David/Poor Boy's friend. I was out your way just over a year ago and visited Russian River Brewing in Windsor and stopped at HenHouse Brewing in Santa Rosa on the way back to the east bay. Fun trip! With time and lots of practice, you'll get fast, and if you run larger scale cars, you'll be amazed how much better 1/28th will make you with the 1/12 and 1/10 cars. I saw your pictures in the Facebook group and soon enough you'll be able to post here.
