What are you having a problem with?

The first line of the race information has what class that race is for. I noticed that T2 started listing the class in the subject line and I started putting it in bold on the very first line of a post. This is still a work in progress so bear with us and if you have any ideas on how to make this cleaner please feel free to speak up.

Cheers,
Jim

Open AWD

I finally got the GLA going alright. I have kind of a love hate relationship with this car, it can be VERY fast but it can also make you feel like you have never driven a car before. I think I have to rebuild the rear crown gear and pinion again as it can skip a tooth and the thing is VERY loud. With that said the car was pretty quick this evening and I pulled off a new track record for me of 3.61s.

Class- Open AWD
Date-6/25/19
Location-Norwalk CT
Race Time- 382.3
Fastest Lap- 4.62s
Chassis-GL GLA
Body- Audi R8LMS
Wheelbase- 98mm
Tires- PN KS Radial Rear Soft/ PN KS Slick Front Med.
Motor- GL 3500kv
Batteries- 300mah 2S
Front Springs- Stock
T-Plate-
Motor Mount-
Dampener (If applicable)-N/A
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)- TA 30K
Gearing-13T

Oh don't get me wrong. I just try to figure out what Stock racers have gone from and too.
To see what I can compare too. And how people have improved in one single class.
I get easily confused.... :-D

I do not have a suggestion on how to make it better or different yet, so no worries. I just was frustrated i thought I was looking at Stock, and I thought it was really fast, but then I found out it was SuperStock. hihi

are u looking for box stock or stock 70t comp. There is the 2 different ones posted.

NoBrainer 06-26-2019 05:48 AM

Box Stock is of no interest to me.

Stock- Any 4AAA Nimh Chassis , OEM or 70T brushed motor or 3500kv Brushless motor, Autoscale/White body.
Pro Stock-Any 4AAA Chassis , 48/50T Brushed motor or 5500kv brushless motor, Autoscale/White body.

These are the ones I probably can do on a Mini-96. Leaning towards just Stock

stock 70t comp there hasnt been a lot of people doing it I did but then I switched my track to smooth side cause my local tracks runs smooth and there is a big race coming up. I have my last run on here with the best I did so far. On the smooth side clockwise I'm running extremely faster than ccw. I'm almost 25 seconds faster

I was shocked by how many laps were necessary to get up to speed after running clockwise for months, I mean it took a few days of running a lot to get to where I was when running CW. I have run a bit CW since running CCW and I adapted very easily going back to CW so I think this is a great training exercise in learning how to drive different courses. I am totally up to speed now running both directions except for my Open AWD car but I think that is more the car than me......At least that is what I am saying.

4 full days left of the June Series so get your fast times in.

Cheers,
Jim

Got my tire truer today and picked up my track from storage on wedensday.
I might even be able to get everything running for next event.

Looking good

Jim,
I'm getting ready to build a new car with an Evo board. If I use aftermarket screws on the chassis, were does that leave me for classes? Can I still run it in box stock if I meet the other requirements? Or would I be limited to the other classes? Not trying to start a controversy, just don't want to build it and then find out I can't run it in certain classes.

Fasteners are open, every screw I have touched on my Box Stock car has been swapped out, I consider this a durability mod. With that said I do not consider titanium fasteners to be in the spirit or the rule.

Jim

Thanks for the quick response Jim! I use PN stainless steel hex machine screws in most of my cars, so I guess I’ll go with that, but I did order some stock screws in case I decide to go true bock stock. Look forward to seeing if the EVO package is that much better than the ASF I’ve been running for years.

Hope the July layout is on the smooth side!

My Best Box Stop Times Yet

So tonight I decided to give the 911 GT1 another try with different front tires, otherwise the set up was the same as before, and on three consecutive runs, I improved my time each run. First run was on old K30 slicks, then on way old PN20 slicks and finally on brand new K30 low height slicks. Not sure if the tires contributed to the improvement each time, or if was was just getting better, but this will be it for Box Stock for June. I'll try to get some final runs in on other cars tomorrow!

Class-Box Stock
Date-6/29/2019
Location-Winston-Salem, NC
Race Time-6:30.725 (390.725)/6:25.937 (385.937)/6:22.723 (382.723)
Fastest Lap-4.786/4.803/4.669
Chassis-MR-03 ASF
Body-911 GT1
Wheelbase-90mm
Tires-See above for fronts, K20R rears
Motor-Stock
Batteries-TRP 747s
Front Springs-PN Blue Super Soft
T-Plate-PN Carbon #4
Motor Mount-Stock RM
Dampener (If applicable)-None
Dampener Fluid (If applicable)-None
Gearing-Stock Gear Diff/7T pinion
Notes- I'm running on smooth side, not rough so results are not comparable.

I feel that the low profile 30 slicks have more traction at similar diameter to the old 30 slick. I think the large heat cycle to cut down the old tires removes some traction, however over long stints, the old 30 seem to maintain traction without changing quite as much.

those PN20 still work? I remember the PN18 which was one of the best front tires to be on...

The new low height 30 slicks are a lot stickier than the old 30 slicks, even before cutting the old ones down. You can just feel it. Plus when mounted on 20mm rims, they are the perfect thickness, so no need for truing. I didn’t notice any change in traction over the run, but I’m not nearly perceptive as you are EMU. Unfortunately I don’t think they will be tall enough on 19mm rims which is what I mostly run.
