Ah I see. Many sites do mention that lower profile tyres (either worn or trued) do help with traction roll. I also tried using RTRC wheels with sidewalls, but there was minimal improvement for my rear-mount (Porsche class) setup.

Well I changed my 98mm to 94mm, and HOLY CRAP does it drive SOOOOO much different! A HUGE improvement on the Mini96!!!! :D
I ordered a Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 from Kenon with a lot of other stuff and along with stuff Poor Boy hooked me up with (THANKS AGAIN!) I got it to 94mm with 1.5mm N fronts and 0mm N Rear rims and Low Pro Kyosho fronts and PN KS rear slicks it drives and handles like it is on rails! So much of an improvement on the Mini96 I was able to run a 5 minute practice and I only had a few mistakes needing reverse, it was like a completely different car! The motor pod I got from Poor Boy is older style PN that I'm not 100% for sure that it's designed for both 98 and 94mm, but I got it to work in 94mm. The arm for the disk damper didn't leave enough room for the motor wires, so I had to remove the bottom disk and just used the top disk with the stiffest spring and it's working well! I could have adjusted the arm to its highest position and probably used both disks but I was concerned with interference with the motor wires still. I just glued in the body tabs into the Skyline to set it up, so it still needs paint and final assembly, but hopefully I can get it complete before the end of the month so I can turn in some laps! I got everything to paint with my new airbrush setup, except the respirator I really need as the place I am setting up to paint is an small office in the garage. After painting with rattle cans once in there I WON'T do it again without breathing protection! The respirator is on back order, so if it's not here soon I will just paint it in the garage with the door open IF it warms enough! I'm unsure what shore the tires I have in the rear, but they are a bit stiff and it's pretty easy to get to ham fisted on the throttle and spin out the rear. I'm going to try to figure out what they are and try the next softer tire to help, but that may just be how the 94mm drives? Anyway Thanks for all the help yall have provided!!! Take Care and Drive Fast!!! Drew |
How about some pics of the chassis Drew?

I noticed that most timing submissions and chats are done at Facebook Mini96 World Challenge page. Will we one day be transitioning fully to Facebook for M96WC?

RCTech’s mobile version was down for a while recently, so I accepted race results on Facebook, but now that it’s back up, the official race results will need to be posted here to count in accordance with the rules. Interim race times and other discussion can continue on either site. We have a lot of new racers starting in the M96WC, so I’m looking forward to lots of new entries this month. Drive fast! |

I hope not  As the person that compiles the results every month, it’s a lot easier to do it from RCTech, where all posts are in chronological order. It’s also easier for racers to see their progress and changes in setup over time in the forum by using the thread search feature to filter their results for a certain class. These things are not easy to do on Facebook, but it is better for random posts and discussion of specific topics, so they each have their benefits.

Thanks Traveler2! I noticed that you had run your wires that way, and I'm trying it now. It looks like it will work well, as I thought the wires might hit the body and cause issues, but it seems good with both the Skyline and my new Ferrari 575m I got from PoorBoy. Pics to follow.

It's between the Jomurema and the Skyline on handling so far. I had 3 traction rolls when I was really pushing it at the second turn off the straight, but luckily it rolled and landed rubber side down! Still trying different wheel widths and tire combos to get the best handling. Started with 2.5mm N fronts, then went to 2mm and it had better turning. Posting these times now as I'm going to be at the farm a lot helping my Dad with health issues, but I'm hoping to get more wheel time and will update. Thanks for the info Traveler2 and the offer for truing! I have a few different types and thickness of tires I will be trying, and if I can't get them to work I will holler at ya about truing. I also ordered my second Mini Z!:D I ordered the RTR with no body/wheels and the parts to run it box stock or stock in 94 or 98mm, so with the bodies I have gotten I will soon have a second entry!
