A bit of bad news.
We heard from the landlord of our carpet track building today.
They have secured a tenant who moves in the first of March.
They also have a lot of work to do to prepare it for the tenant.(enlarge the office, build a couple of walls, install a laundry area, etc...)
Bottom line is we have to be out by the 14th of February.
Being that we have paid very little to no rent at all, we have known the last few years that at any time we could be asked to leave to make way for a real rent paying tenant.
We have been very lucky, last year we did not have to move our stuff to a mini storage.
For many years we had to find a building in fall after the outdoor season... move our stuff in to it from the mini storage, then move it back out in spring to the mini storage when it was time to race outdoors. That's how it usually went.
When we would get a full crew to help move, it goes fast.
So no real suprise here, it just sucks.
We still plan to race in Madison this Saturday the 7th, after our trip to Monroe.
First thing we have to do is hit the streets and find a new building to move into. Hopefully we can do that as we move out of the present building.
So, if anyone has any connections to benevolent landlords please check with them to see if they have anything available.
We need at least 6000 > 7000 square feet of space, that covers track & pits. We also have to keep rent & utilities under a thousand dollars a month, thus the need for a benevolent landlord.
Hotrod & Michelle have phone numbers of our last few landlords and will be checking with them for available space also.
We will have to be out the 14th.
Before that we have to clean and repair the space we have been using.
We need to remove shelfs and screws from walls and patch the holes, basically leave it the way we found it.
Not sure at this point how this will affect our Marcca/Monroe series, For sure we will race Monroe this week, and if we get lucky with a building we can still host them, not sure of a date tho.
This is a challege that I'm sure we as a club, if we All pitch in can conquer... Piece of cake!

I posted this on MARCCA's Web site also.
WE should all keep our eyes open on empty spaces that would work for us to finish out the Season.
In the Event we do not find a place by the 21st-Then Jim at RCP offered to let us host the MARCCA half of the Monroe/Marcca race at RCP that Saturday night as a club event run by the club.
He even added an open Invite to finish off the Season Saturday nights under RCP's roof.
We can keep rolling no matter what!
I'll see you in Monroe this Saturday lets-kick some butt,Have some fun and when we get back we will figure this out.
See you At the Tracks,
Bob Hommen

A big thank you goes out to Jim, Josh and the rest of the crew at RCP. Even if MARCCA is able to find a suitable space to race and finish out the carpet season, the invitation and offer to use the RCP facility is an unselfish and honorable thing to do.

I totally agree with Chad. The extension of the helping hand is much appreciated. Although we are different tracks we are all one racing community.
We are doing what we can to secure our own facility at this time but our time is short to find something that suits our needs at an acceptable price.
Please PM me with any leads that you all might have for a building and we shall check them out.

There are days when I wish I had 5 acres of land and a 150 X 75 insulated, heated, powered pole barn with ample rest rooms, an internet connection and parking lot. Enough room to run outdoor all summer and carpet all winter. Now that's a long term plan and one hell of a daydream, but very possible.

I like the way you think John. Put together some numbers on it and we will see what we can do. I am guessing 250k should do it. Divide that by 40 guys and its about 6250 each. Five year loan would be a little more than 125 a month. Not that far from reality. There is power in numbers.
Keep the dream alive and count me in at that amount.

just looking ahead....
when is the marrca side of the monroe/marcca challenge and what time is it supposed to start?
as i said to bob, we are always there to help. if it means using our facility i will try my best to BE there and help. whether it be just have the shop open or even just to lock up at the end of the night. you can always count on me.
