I agree with you 100%. Giving newbies the easiest way to start racing is the number one priority for Stock Touring. I myself would agree to run silvercan if ever we do not find a compromise between brushless and silvercan.
Although we still haven't incorporated brushless in the class, I'm still torn whether we should use the TBLE01 + 18T combo. Newbies who want to upgrade to brushless when the time comes should spend 6k for it, instead of just buying a sensored motor for their TBLE02S. On the other hand, racers like me already have the sensorless system at their disposal.

Correct kayo dyan guys! The stock touring class is really a beginner class so the rules were set to make it as easy as possible for newbies to join the race. (priority is not to be competitive but just to join)
The organizers has actually reviewed and tried running 18T and silvercan on the same class but the real problem is it's very very difficult to set rules that will make both systems run at exactly the same pace. One of the reason is that the speed of silvercan is VARIABLE. There are ways to make it run faster... But of course, like in the previous years, I'm sure this will be reviewed again in the upcoming TAC.
This is exactly why the 17.5 class was born... It's a class where newbies and experts alike can have fun running brushless systems without the insane speed that a 13.5 will give you. It also creates an environment where newbies can just focus on improving their driving/setup skills without thinking of motor tuning/technique.
