Hey Racers!
I'm planning to race COMPETITIVELY but as much as possible I want to spend less for it. Don't get me wrong but I am WILLING to spend for the hobby but as much as possible I want to limit my expense because I'm just relying on my parent's money. Anyway, I really have no problem in saving money although we all know that it is good to spend less of it for other things.
Moving on to my questions (all questions are in order):
1. Is On-road racing cheaper than off-road? if so..
2. What POPULAR Racing CLASS should I be in for competitive budget racing?
3. What chassis do you recommend me to buy?
- I am a builder at heart so I really don't care if the chassis is hard to
work-on for as long as it cheap to race.
- I want a chassis that is popular so I could race it anytime.
4. I live in Paranaque where is the nearest race track in my place? Is it an
on-road track or off-road?
*for you information, I just want to race and tune-up my car so so any chassis would do for as along as I could race it competitively and cheaply on a specific class*
Have a good guys! Hope you could help me!

nitro or electric?coz in my experiece i go 1st in on-road drifting after several months i change my mind and go for ofroad after that i move to plane then heli then nitro offroad hayzz i cant decide where to focus my attention its just that i love this hobby..since you said you just want to compete with minimal cost. i strongly suggest to go to on road drifting (electric) as far as i know that is the cheapest ur 10k will give u a kit, radio, electronics batss and charger. you can compete ur low budget kit and electronics as long as you have the skill and best of it the set-up for drifting is almost the same.one more thing is there is a group of drifters every saturday near ur place. makati PS1 i think 9am onwards are they're drift meet. i hope this will give u an idea how this hobby make us weird!!!! wahahaha
Thank you for replying!
But just so you know, I am already decided to just race without spending so much. I did have that kind of dilemma of yours too! Now, I am decided to just race competitively without spending too much for the hobby.
I am already decided to just race competitively. So on-road or off-road cars wouldn't really matter to me for as long as the racing cost is cheap and the racetracks are near in Paranaque.
In drifting, I really have no idea on how to win in that game. Is it about racing? haha sorry

Adr1an,
Try the Tamiya races. So far the last two races held in SM Megamall were only P250 entry fee. Tamiya Mini M-chassis is cheap.
Off road nearest track is Sonic Boom. Race fee I think is P600.
On-road nitro race fee is P1,000. In JP Raceway (near Ortigas).
On-road electric club race (touring cars) P350 race fee in JP Raceway.
Good luck.

Need more inputs guys! hehe
1. So what are the POPULAR CLASSES and CHASSIS are raced in JP RACEWAY?
2. Do they race Tamiya Mini M-Chassis there also? If yes, is the race held frequently?
Thanks for the infos guys! it really helped!
people there race with lipos, brushless systems, digital servos, hi end kits, sticky tires. they are not cheap but atleast it will be a bit cheaper than going offroad.. since off road racing tends to break lots of parts when you are new to racing.
i have PRO onroad and RACE roller off road kits willing to sell (i'll be buying PRO kits) hit me a pm..

But from what I know, there are DIFFERENT CLASSES and each class has restrictions. From what I can remember the restrictions limits the upgrade parts you can put in the car making the CLASS a cheap class to race on.
So my question is... (Questions are in order)
1. Which class has restrictions that limits the person to put upgraded parts that are expensive?
2. Is that class always available?
3. What chassis is raced in that class?

Adr1an, drop by JP Raceway this Saturday. It will give you a feel for the racing atmosphere and we can answer all your questions there.
See you!
See you!
I'll try but I might not be free on Saturday.
In JP the main class is 4wd touring car with 13.5 brushless sensored motors and lipo. Pick any chassis you want (e.g. 416, T3, Cyclone, TC5 etc). I use a TL01, so it can also be as cheap as you want it to be. Always a quorum.
Cheaper probably is the Tamiya M-chassis. You can use for the Saturday club races (but not always a quorum) as well as the upcoming Tamiya cup.
Good luck!
