MAMBA MAX??..I dunt think it can support 1:8 scale..but MAMBA MONSTER..sure can
Just buy a hyper motor mount from www.rc-monster.com & you're half way there. Add another aluminium U section for battery on the left side of the buggy & you're ready to rock.

In fact, I just bought a motor mount on behalf of an acquaintance here in Miri.

A belt driven 1/8 brushless? Graphite? Nice but I think it wont last long off road.

Sure can share my learning pains so others won't have to...

1) What works in colder climate don't necessary work in our part of the world - Tried a doubledecker Mamba Max in my buggy but still approaching thermal. Also managed to fry at least 5 esc of various make (BK 9920, Quark monster pro) at USD20 a pop.

2) Some products don't work as advertised - MGM is one where I had bad experience with. Spec look so good but didn't last at all. Quark 125 is another.

So far, can remember these 2 only.

Bro...U seems to have lots of experiences (both cheap n expensive..hehe) and examined some ESCs and motors..

So any recomendation on POWERFUL MOTOR AND ESC?..What are the current top dog (in terms of quality and performance..not just big name) motor and ESC for 1:8 offroad?

Can get locally or need to buy from overseas?

About the Hyper 8 conversion......no need to drill the chasis??

Hi Azmin,

For powerful motor & esc, I recommend the Neu 1512 series of motors for buggy & 1515 series of motor for truggy. As for 8th scale esc, I like the Castle Creations Mamba Monster Max V3.

Unfortunately, i don't know of anyone selling locally. Mostly from USA. Some places that sell these are :

www.rc-monster.com

www.impaktrc.com

The MMM esc is becomng more common. Even big web stores like those listed below are selling them :

www.amainhobbies.com

www.stormerhobbies.com

As for the hyper 8 conversion, u still need to drill a couple of holes for the homemade battery tray/holder unfortunately. There is no need to drill holes for the motor mount. It should fit in place of the factory stock plastic piece
