I am not a fan of the non standard clutch bearing sizes . Somehow ive got a clutch bell that uses 5x12 bearings, which almost nobody makes. I bought some xray high speed bearings because thats the closest i could get to a clutch bearing, and in 3 tanks it was completley shot. So, does anyone have a 16t clutch bell with the 5x10 bearings they would like to trade for a 13t bell or clutch parts or whatever?

Me and my buddy are coming to the Futaba for the first time. Any tips from the locals on what to expect or extra things its nice to have to bring? We are coming in Thursday to have a chill day and sample some BBQ. Will we be able to come by and check out the layout?
And the most important question, where can we get some good BBQ around there? I don't want that chain junk. Mom and pop down home cooking. Thanks boys

Carter, you're actually better off using the bigger bearings. The thicker bearings are just beefier and last a lot longer. Protek and Avid make the size you need, Id recommend Avid. I have been running the 5x12 since last year and have yet to have one fail. Check your chassis braces and motor mount to make sure they are tight. Also make sure your gear mesh is good, any of these can chew up bearings. If you still want, I have a 16t bell that uses 5x11.

I thought the same thing; that the 5x10s or 11s would be too small. i was sort of right, but the problem is still finding really good 5x12s that can be ran at high speed/heat (like normal clutch bearings). Probably what needs to happen is i need to remove the grease from these bearings and put in some oil to free them up a bit and help them handle the heat. The xray bearings mightve just had more of a focus on sealing the bearing which made them fail.

I would think the larger bearings would be better also. I'm new to this Losi clutch with the super large inner bearing but so far after a couple of good days of running they feel as good as new. If anything they spin a little easier. As far as degreasing the bearings go I personally think it's better to just wipe out the excess grease that has been thrown from the bearing after a couple of runs. I also wipe down the clutch and bell with denatured alcohol.
