no Rustlers aren't cool. they were tolerable in mid/late 90's. always owned by noobs, fucksticks, and the dorky kid who runs his mouth but never his truck, or some random idiots cousin. back when they were cheap and were still offered as a kit. today they're outdated pieces of shit made my a company more evil than communism.

the SRT, Bullet, and Sledgehammer are the traxxas cars i was first introduced to. back then they were cool. and the SRT was actually good truck at the time. aside from those absolute shit drive shafts. ...that they're still using... seriously words can not describe how much i hate those breakage and failure prone driveshafts.

and besides, you can't call my project idea a traxxas. IF i finish it (having gearbox issues) there won't be a single solitary traxxas part on it. is for, it will be known as "a generic stadium truck". cause fuck off i have enough trouble sleeping at night. last thing i need is a traxxas product in my fleet. ...unless maybe its a 90's era nitro stampede. cause once you ditch that shitty never start system and throw the RPM catalog at them they don't totally suck.
in related news, Dragrace Concepts diff won't fit a RPM gearbox housing ether, but it's close. i really don't want to, but i might have to just buy the Proline box. haven't heard good things... ...unless someone makes a thinner bearing... ...or i can get creative with some shaving... ...or someone else knows an aftermarket diff... ...hmmmm... could have sworn someone made a ball diff for them. need to research that...

The rustler isn't great, but it wasn't bad at what it was designed to do either. Which was be an entry level hobby grade toy, to get people in the hobby, and inexpensive. We're looking at it from a racers eyes. Traxxas could have made it better, but they knew their market. They knew racers weren't going to buy them, that 10 year old's who prior RC cars were probably some walmart plastic crap. And compared to that, a rustler was a big step up.

They were the coolest looking truck out, but they were built off the buggy platform. This made them extremely prone to breaking apart. Traxxas makes some of the coolest looking cars. If they didn't have such poor business practices, they would be much more desireable.

Have any of you worked with government employed people? I found that the ones who have been working, as a government employee for over 10 years, are the f'ing worst. They mastered the process of "deflecting blame" and "passing the buck."

i went from looking at them as race cars to looking at them as bashers in real time. at the time there market was racers. which just makes things even more wtf. but Associated launched the B2 and Losi the XX. ushering in the "molded composite chassis generation" that were also leaps and bounds ahead of there previous generations. traxxas fallowed cause that's what they do third best and went from the bullet to the bandit. which somehow wound up inferior to its predecessor. that has never sat right with me. idk if they chose to go backwards or if it just happened cause they're stupid. if they wanted a cheap entry level platform for bashers they already had it. the now outdated bullet and SRT. why fuck up a decent thing? really the only beneficiary was the stampede which actually was better than the sledgehammer. really the only thing that ever held back the stampede was the steering. had they bothered to put bellcranks on it, it would have been a good truck.

Not all but a lot them are ex-military, ex-law enforcement, or people that wanted to be military or law enforcement, but couldn't hack it. But wanted a way to still have some power and authority or be next to it. And honestly some are just there for the money and benefits, an easy ride. And just couldn't give a fuck, they're getting theirs and that's all that matters.
