I absolutely agree with this post. The major problem I see with on-road at HS is that it's on a WEDNESDAY night! Getting home at 1am then getting up at 5:30am for work is not fun. Especially just to play with toy cars. If there would have been a promoted standard weekend program, I don't think this would have been an issue.

Another thing I see mentioned in this thread is running 1/8 e-buggies.. Unless you have a track the size of Flowood indoor, this is not going to be exciting or fun for the 1/8 crowd. Especially with all the great outdoor options in the area. On the other side of that if the track was that large then it becomes a less appealing 1/10 solution. I can already see the threads now... The jumps are too small, lanes too narrow for e-buggies... The jumps are too big for 1/10 buggies...

There are plenty of 1/8 offroad tracks in the area. Nothing that caters to 1/10 electric racing. Stay focused.

First on the agenda, if it were me, would be to get my hobby shop in line and establish a larger online presence. Get some revenue from outside the Atlanta area coming in, instead of being carried solely on the backs of local racer track fees.

We had lots of ebuggy racers and tons of fun at TAPS before they shutdown. That track was only slightly bigger than the current HS track. With just a rearrangement of how the floor space is used I think a TAPS sized track could fit along with the current onroad track.

Jmuck69 02-02-2014 08:03 PM

E-buggy would be totally possible on a bigger track at Hotshots. They run e-buggy at OCRC and it's a 1/10 scale track with smaller jumps. Things would need to happen such as lower power motor or simply dial back the power but in exchange I think driving skill would improve and constant dry track is available. It's either sit at home and pout when it rains or go turn laps and have fun... you choose.

No need to PM, if I am so misinformed just tell me right here......

This thread sounds like the Should-a Could-a Would-a 500, hahaha!

You cannot build any world on excuses!

If anyone is taking this personal or getting upset enough to have this thread deleted, take a step back and realize that this is a simple discussion. Brad asked if any of us offroad guys would come out on WED, because he is thinking about shutting down the onroad side, so everything here in these post's are on topic. You guys leave yourselves wide open to criticism when you play the blame game!

From the last time I checked we are all adults, we should be able to have a conversation in a thread without it getting shut down b/c of someone's ego getting the best of them. I mean shoot, Curtis called me semi intelligent, which means half dumb to some folks, but i know that was not what he meant by it ( I hope :), hahaha). So if you are reading between the lines, trust me there is nothing there, just me simply pointing out YOU make reality what it is by voicing then DOING!

Sent PM, because I would rather keep the drama to the GCS threads (you said adults LOL) and not here in public hurting the RC community.

Brad knows my feelings on Wednesdays...I have a job and I can't do super late nights at the track during the week.

Big onroad race the 22nd of march, gives plenty of time to get everything organized between now an then and have large turnouts. Time for no more excuses.

I only post something in a blue moon. This is the only post I will do until after the onroad race. I am going to count the number of times someone make a excuse about the race. like bearings, dirt, no traction ect.

No not really at all. This is not a smart idea. Generally after a race the racers will take a week or two off to recover. There is usually a lot of lead up going on. Time away from family, money put out things like that lead up to a recovery. Scheduling 2 event back to back will likely prove to be bad. Then for those of us that do both and now it's off-road, OneLug and back here for on-road. I will just say I wish some more thought was put in from the promotions team at HS .

No! Shon is not allowed in the clique. Pro Mini Truggy is being developed as a class full of fun. No taking it serious and racing is one of the first rules against "Pro Mini Truggy" class.

Shon if you want in you will have to prove by taking Chris out on the straight over you finishing up well in a main. :D:lol::p

Not sure I can get my Pro Mini Truggy back together for Wed. Parts should be here today. Would love to test some of the new rules packages... :D

MCSEDanny 02-03-2014 08:36 AM

I'm in wed night for 2wd buggy.

JustWill75 02-03-2014 08:38 AM

I'm good with running buggy Wednesday also.

O-ima take Chris out in every turn possible :batman: You can bet on that!

Is anyone game for running track backwards on WED? Be fun to have a change, but if folks dont want to, I am fine with that.

I'm down for a buggy race. Maybe do that format where you run say 3 mains vs. qualifiers? I always need more main practice.

I ran it backwards in practice with a few guys and the issue was everyone would slam the top of the double which is just going to kill the lip going the other way. Try it and if you think it wont tear of the track for friday night then we can. I wont be there until 7:30 wednesday right before the race.

agree 100%

Scott can call it a excuse if he wants. You want to schedule a event especially one that may be the last of its kind so that you get maximum attendance. One lug has had the Date for the Carpet Showdown posted since December and even before the posted them they wanted to know when we're scheduling the Top Gun And The GORC.

I understand that we are getting ready to tear down the on road track. But if we are going to have one last race can we at least for the first time ever......... plan a proper event. Hell, if you want me to ill do all the planning and promotions myself. All I need you to do is push the date to the same month we did last year's Top Gun which was in April.

now if you had planed to start the tear down of the on road track before April then I say we should just cancel the on road race and do real planing for large off road race.

That is one of the rules for "Pro Mini Truggy" Main is run backwards. However no practice is allowed.

I am voting against for Wed night as I am setting up the RB6 MM and will already have my hands full.

Will you act as tho it's set in stone. I have not seen any response from Brad with a commitment that he is going all off-road. So until then stop morning the death of something that has not died.

You have my vote for HS Promotions position.

+1 on both. Can't believe I am agreeing with Danny, I must have hit my head or something.

Mizchief 02-03-2014 10:50 AM

I think onroad needs a Short Course Truck of it's own. Something to get people exposed to racing.

I think scale NASCAR would be cool. Setup an oval track with a road course infield.

Do tell.

VTA/LeMans style starts, pointing the wrong direction.

I think we need to mandate everyone run AE ballcups just to even the playing field.

I am a little surprised that something like this hasn't come a long. The Slash came out in what, 2007-8 and there has not been an onroad equivalent yet.

NASCAR can road course or at least they try twice a year. So you don't have to have an oval.

That's true, was thinking the Oval might bring in more NASCAR fans. Would be sick to have a nice sized scale track along side each full sized track in each town.

Something between this:

Not to dilute this thread so I started a Pro Mini Truggy Rule Package thread.

I'm not in morning of anything I do as realize there is no trigger pulled yet. But I still want have a great event for all our on road racers that have supported this track over the years. If it is the last one then let's do it right.

i think this the closest thing to 'onroad short course' out there:

orcadigital 02-03-2014 01:51 PM

I would totally rock that, parking lot racing!

Mizchief 02-03-2014 02:11 PM

Since it's already a Traxxass they should work out a deal with NASCAR for pre-painted bodies for all the top drivers and your pretty much set.
