Lets be clear im very pro-USVTA, but im more pro on road. I enjoy coming to the ATL and so does my girls. So me not coming to the GORC has nothing to do with rules. Also they are not "my" rules, they are the national rules that most tracks go by and see great entries from it. But this isn't about me. Its about the onroad guys wanting and needing and track to race. And giving the chance I think hot shots could be the premier carpet track in the country. Hot bed in Atlanta GA. Nice location Good hobbyshop Only track of its kind in the whole state Largest indoor carpet track in the nation Host of national level events Etc etc ect |
Onroad...9-12 a night tops
Offroad...30-60 a night and growing... do the math. |

Are these entries or bodies

I must say it sucks to see everyone arguing about this. Why not leave everything exactly as it is. Why does the offroad track need to be bigger? Why does the onroad track need to be bigger? What to get that one national race every few years at best (whether it's on or off road), or add one class of racing (1/8th scale or mod tc). If both want a bigger track keep attendance up on the offroad side AND get more onroaders showing up, and both will probably get a larger track. For now I say to work on scheduling and maintenance of both tracks and leave well enough alone.

Racing would improve on a larger track to get people spread out a bit and have more passing lines. I've been lapped during a qualifier before I even crossed the loop one time. Short tracks have their upsides as well, creates some intense racing, but can also get frustrating and make people burn out. |

With the ROAR NATS coming to the east coast this Summer/Fall it would be awesome to have a LARGE indoor off-road track to prepare. :batman:

Whats this thread about I forgot?
Wednesday Night would be better for me than Friday. I can make a saturday every now and then if its a big race but Sunday is my normal day off. Man I wish the track was open today... I just finally finished setting up the RB6 and need to run some laps. Next up after a week or two of testing is mid motor config. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/...psnnwxb4ht.jpg |
Man power is not the issue. Approvals and legal stuff (zoning, land lord approvals, etc) are an issue, and the cost of materials is an issue. Not to mention, Brad has yet to make a final decision that I am aware of. It seems already decided, but it is not for anyone but Brad to finalize it.

I could make it a couple times a month, would depend on entry fee's, because I would still race every Friday night.
Maybe try an make Wed night all larger truck and ebuggy night, Friday would focus on the 2wd buggies, stadium truck, smaller stuff, etc. and then Sat run all classes I really like what Shon is saying about the big east coast race, I say get ready as well, a race that that could put Hot Shots , an Marietta, Ga on the RC map. Same could be said about onroad racers, you want to keep the track go give brad money to keep it so he can stay open. When are we going to stop arguing and just understand it's business, no matter the decision. We all are in this hobby together, some like getting dirty and others carpet burn. Whatever you fix is, arguing gets us nowhere.
BACK ON TOPIC: I might be able to make a Wednesday here or there, but think maybe random Sunday races would be more lucrative due to most people not working on Sundays as well as opposite of most other tracks. I still think a Wednesday night may help some, but as Danny said if you race 3x a week the people will be spread out and turnouts smaller. If you go to a larger track you could also separate days for 1/10 and 1/8 every so often to accommodate pitting and/or amount of time at the track so people don't get home at 2-3 am type of thing. That's just a big "if" and only ideas that are being tossed out there. |

Good-bye Hotshots you were fun while it lasted:cry: Wish I could have been there more.
|
I do like Carl's idea of running specific classes on certain nights during the week and open to all on Sat. Cut the # of heats down a bit and get out early.
|
It's a business decision. Nuff said...

If you guys really wanted to help Brad, give him solid input not build this and we promise we will come... Only time will tell 1 year from now if he has no on-road track and the off-road guys are still showing up to practice during the week and 15-30 entries are still happening on Friday and Saturday. Ideas for a business: I would look at things like hiring a full time employee that is great at repairs, sales and can manage the shop properly keeping track of inventory cycle counts, putting dead stock products on sale to get your cost out of to help cash flow or credit accounts with vendors. -Having a solid repair center at hotshots for all the people that do not like to work on there own product or want to pay to have soldering done, assemblies, rentals. This is something the internet does not have and my business does really well with. Just having a face to face person helping you with labor needs or guidance and picking out the right products for your venture. -Design repair tickets forms to fill out for checking in repairs so you can schedule them in a google calendar or excel doc with a promised eta. -Design Labor charts and have them posted behind front counter for a la cart items as well as labor per hour. -Create special order forms so when a customer needs to order an item you take a half down deposit write up a special order form and tell the customer you place orders every Monday morning and it will be in by 5 days from that monday. If it's not in stock call the customer to let them know. -I have personally spent over $4k at hotshots over the last few years. Unfortunately myself and many others turned to the internet(which I hate owning a brick and mortar retail business) because we would order items from HS and they would not come in for weeks. -Maybe a big dirt track will be more profitable but with that there is more expenses. Proper watering, calcium, routine maintenance and labor cost to clean the store since it seems all the on-road guys where there mopping/sweeping and wiping down counters last week. -use a point if sale software that you have all inventory in and you can set min/max qty. on hand needs and it will populate weekly orders for items that are selling. -I'd bet there is over 5k in inventory that needs to be sold at cost because it is dead stock and has not turned in over 120days. $5k that can be use to better the future business of Hotshots Sorry for the rant but I've never heard of a revenue generating track Chris. I know it may be bringing in more entries than on-road currently which is great but on-road was like that when it first opened too. Do you see taking out the on-road track doubling the entries to 60 on a Saturday in July or are those other 30 people still going to be at loganville, hcrcr, dalton etc... When it's warm and nice out because they may run nitro and electric... This is a business decision and I support Brad and Hotshots whatever his decision may be. I run off-Road and it's not the end of my world if the on-road track gets torn down. I just hate to see the on-road track torn down, the off road track enlarged and a year from now the turnouts are low and it goes under because no real profitable decisions were made to help grow the BUSINESS... And I'm done... |

My two cents:
I do like the idea of a Wednesday race. (on topic!) I do like Sunday Races. (off topic) I don't think racing more than twice in one week will work. (logical) I do think having alternating offroad race days would be worth considering. (my opinion) For instance; One week have a Wednesday and Saturday race. The next week have a Friday and Sunday race. |

Are you guys slow or what ! Brag needs the money to put in the track ! Then he needs the county to say ok to his plain. Money to re-build the stand. Money for the wood around the track. Dirt. Fork up $250.00 EACH AND HE CAN BUILD IT AS SOON AS YOU HELP! THE MAN DONT HAVE MONEY TO PAY RENT AND BUILD WHAT YOU ALL WANT RIGHT NOW. THAT'S MY PROBLEM.
