No I'm not slow at all, as a matter of fact I am a former successful business owner. I sold my company after double the average revenue. It takes money to make money is a no brainer. I'm sure when the time comes people will donate what they can to make it happen.

Taking a poll here for interest in Offroad Racing on Wednesday Nights 8pm at HotShotRC Raceway.
We currently have Onroad racing every Wednesday night. If we decide to go to a large offroad track that means Wed Night Racing on the offroad track. So my question is WHO will be coming and HOW OFTEN will you come race on Wednesdays within a month? Let's keep it clean here ! And thanks for taking the survey. |

Dang.... I hope you guys work all this out

I already have........ Plan the next big on road race for Hotshots which should be the TOP GUN CHALLENGE in April. Unless Brad says otherwise.
If he gets word and has the funds to Build Roar National level indoor off road track, I will do all I can to help build and support this change and my local track. I refuse to trip out on this anymore. |
He should do that, but probably will not. Start promotions NOW so people can get prepared and make that the final onroad race ever for hotshot. That would probably bring everyone out that would want to run onroad for 1 last time.

I'll be there next Wednesday with my 1/10 buggy for off-road and my 1/12 for on-road if anyone wants to come race... I think three makes a class |
One great thing I have noticed since HS went v2 was the amount of NEW faces!!
That is what our scene needs, more new people, and offroad seems to drawing them in. In the business world you either stick to your guns and sink with your ship or you learn to adapt and survive. The off-road community has proven themselves by showing up, period... We have needed this for A LONG TIME, Never have us off-road guys been so close to having a full time, full size, INDOOR off-road track, in the METRO ATL AREA!!!!!!!!!!! |
I think we should keep both tracks opened and alternate every other week, Wed to Sat. this would give time for on-road cleanup and keep both income streams, on-road clean up can be lessened by implementing a tarp frame to cover the on-road track.
I feel when it starts to get hot the off-road racers will race closest to their home unless it rains. That's why off-road is doing so well now at Hotshot, because of weather. The hobbyshop needs inventory that is not model specific.Tires, bodies paint, wire motors servos speed controllers and as loyal club racers we should only buy those items from Hotshot. Racing to generate money to support a track puts a heavy burden on the racers and takes away from the fun and learning process needed to get faster. As a club track we should be doing more to stay together than looking for a few sponsored races that still won't keep the doors opened at Hotshot. Instead of taking sides why don't we try some off-road on-road guys? and off-road guys try some on-road this way we can keep what we have and make it better. Maybe a snack stand could help generate extra money I'm thinking of a Fryer and electric gill on a table every little bit helps. |

I'll admit that ideal for me is to have a big enough indoor dirt track to run ebuggy, but whatever Brad decides i'll support and keep coming out to HS as much as I can. However when given the choice of racing ebuggy or not racing ebuggy i'm going to choose the former. When talking about outdoor competition I know my inherit lazyness will factor in all the extra equipment and setup time required with outdoor (ezup, tables, chair, air compressor, etc.) vs. making one trip from the car to the HS pits and being ready to go in 5 mins. I'm pretty sure at that point HS would become my home track and would only venture out to Loganville, Dalton, HCRCR on special events. |
Something else I was thinking about today to help raise funds; offer a membership program more like a golf course. So you pay $300 - $500 yearly then get all your club racing and practice for free. Or take what one would expect to spend racing twice a week, add it up for a year and take off like 50%. If there is a bigger (more expensive entry fee) event, then just deduct the normal club rate for members.
Multi classes would be a tricky, maybe offer multi class memberships, or do add-ons on race days when you race a second class, etc. Could be a quick way to raise $5k - $10k depending on how the numbers work out, or break it down into a monthly fee to have some recurring revenue on the books which is always nice if you need a loan or other investors. |
Since there is concern that off road will go back outside when it warms up why not wait and see what happens before a decision is made. if the racers stay indoors then consider expanding the track. if they do go outside then the on road track is still there to offer another racing option. Warm weather is just a couple of months away.
|
The only concern that offroad will go out door all summer are the onroad guys!
Onroad had its chance, it is the winter season, I was told in late summer the numbers were low b/c it was not in season yet. Onroad season has come and there is literally no change in attendance! The offroad track is over due for a layout change and this would be a great time to start working on a revision! |

At what point do we all look at this as we are all racers it's not about off road guys and on road guys we are racers that invest a lot in the class we like or love.
Now I do understand what Shon and a few others are looking at. But before we start looking at who had their chance, lets look at the big picture. The original loss in on road racers came from bad public relations moves. Some people returned when things changed and we had to big turn outs for the Top Gun Challenge and the G.O.R.C..... The second came from rushing to put the off road track in without taking the necessary precautions needed to keep dirt off the on road surface. If you really look at it, If on road racing was truly dead, then hotshot killed It. |
I agree with you Will that the onroad scene could have done it better, but you cannot blame Brad alone.
Onroad folks had 3 years to work together with Brad to make a Onroad scene. If you notice how fast the off-road scene got it together at hotshots, we are very proactive group, and we finished the track a week ahead of schedule! When I was in Cali I asked many folk about onroad, they all said the same thing, its dying! Hotshots did not kill onroad, the GA onroad community or lack of is what is killing it |
Brad I s doing what he can to make everyone happy as best he can. Remember he was struggling with the off road because of track conditions. ( carpet, wooden jumps and other strange obstacles.) Now people come because of the red V2. Now we have red clay on a carpet surface. That stuff is bad on carpet track and can make it hard to drive a on road car on with open diff and direct drive. This is why numbers have declined.
ITS NOT ABOUT ON ROAD HAVING ITS TURN AND OFF ROAD HAS PROVEN ANYTHING. |
Big off road, Big on road or both tracks I'll be there. I still think Getting rid of the on road track is a bad Idea to me but it's not my place.
|
Seems to have gone off topic about wed nights , overall seems
Every shop/track overhead of rent kills em evrytime, ideal place Is a paid for location , indoor, outdoor on or off doesn't matter Membership dues. Cool hard to do with a rented space and or No location , people afraid paying dues then rent is missed place is gone. Personal back yards are cool but have a race or two with a PA system Or handful of nitros and neighbors put end to that lol, basically Just throwing this out there to anybody that may have peice land That can be commercially used now be time think about a rc park I know lot rambling , but hoping maybe stir up some ideas Atlanta Big enuff time for a good permanent place . Everyone has a hook up Far as equipment building tracks , stands. Rc community needs hook Up for no rent paid for local , I hate getting on site here and seeing post people going back forth over stupid crap, hobby is to be enjoyable, just few cents worth |

Myron yes everything you said makes since however what GA and HS does not have that is most important.
On-Road racers: HS can't keep the doors open with a regular crowd of 9 and expanded crowd of 15 racers. Promotions: Sorry but Brad and all his staff prior and now have no skills at promotions. Yes it's sad that the on-road track will be gone and so much of it is based on the fact that this year was a very rainy year. Normally that means the next year will be dry. So that means all these fighting so hard for dirt will be no where to be found (well they will be at Dalton, Loganville or Henry county) from spring until HS closes the doors. My feeling however is that if Brad does not invest in this opportunity he could be closed before we get to summer. Off-road has some awesome weekends and then some ok weekends. On-road has not carried any weight in a long time. Another thing I see mentioned in this thread is running 1/8 e-buggies.. Unless you have a track the size of Flowood indoor, this is not going to be exciting or fun for the 1/8 crowd. Especially with all the great outdoor options in the area. On the other side of that if the track was that large then it becomes a less appealing 1/10 solution. I can already see the threads now... The jumps are too small, lanes too narrow for e-buggies... The jumps are too big for 1/10 buggies... There are plenty of 1/8 offroad tracks in the area. Nothing that caters to 1/10 electric racing. Stay focused. First on the agenda, if it were me, would be to get my hobby shop in line and establish a larger online presence. Get some revenue from outside the Atlanta area coming in, instead of being carried solely on the backs of local racer track fees. |

I absolutely agree with this post. The major problem I see with on-road at HS is that it's on a WEDNESDAY night! Getting home at 1am then getting up at 5:30am for work is not fun. Especially just to play with toy cars. If there would have been a promoted standard weekend program, I don't think this would have been an issue.
No structured weekend racing program killed it for me and other racers alike. |
You guys kill me! I see this blame game crap all the time in the music industry..... If offroad where to fail at hotshots I have no one to blame but MYSELF. To even consider blaming Brad and HotShot crew is crazy, he handed you guys a very nice track in the Town Center area, indoors, well stocked hobby shop and you guys turn around and blame him for YOUR scene's for lows y turnout. The only person in OnRoad that has gone out of his way to promote is Will, his reports where awesome and he worked at getting folks to transfer to onroad. (but you need more than Will and couple others to make it happen)
You have to do more than talking about fixing the problem to make it work, all I hear is chatter! lets face it, the offroad track is there because we made it happen, the entries are increasing and we have spectators because we made it happen. I have no problem with Onroad racing or anyone who want to be an 100% onroad racer, but I am too excited to have an indoor offroad track rock throwing distance from me, and the only thing threatening its existence is MONEY. |

You're right, you guys made the offroad track happen. We're consumers... We pay entry fees to race. From this point of view it's not up to us "make" things happen. It's up to us to decide what offers the most amount value for our dollar and our time. One big offroad track or one big onroad track is really not the point. It's the overall product being sold. I was merely illustrating why the onroad product may have been struggling and attendance declining. The offroad track is still new and has interest from the community. I see no reason not to try and capitalize on that. The thought of having a place to race this summer without fear of rain or sunburn is appealing. |
Hotshots is the only hobby shop I have walked into, this state or any other, that has onroad kits and parts readily available. Almost every shop is full of rtr off-road vehicles as the largest group of RC drivers in general is, and always will be backyard bashers. They like being able to go outside and drive their cars in the street or yards. My point behind this is that if they hear of a track they can run their cars on they would be more inclined to show up and that's a positive, especially since they can't drive on the carpet track bc they had a piece of grass on their cars. We have already seen new faces in Hotshots since the clay has been put in. If you open an Rc car magazine you may see one onroad car and 10 off-road. Off-road is just where this hobby is in the USA. Manufacturers see this, why can't other people realize the same thing.
As for all the comments about off-road guys will be going outdoors in summer, I'd say 80%+ of the racers at hotshots do not race outdoors. It's often too easy to point fingers anywhere but the real problem, but to say they won't show up is the same as saying the onroad guys will. There is no gurantee, but as it is in this hobby in general, off-road is the money maker whether it's racing or bashing due to numbers. I would like to see more comments from the onroad group as well as the off-road with economical ideas to help the tracks rather then all this arguing. Instead of getting all of your panties in a wad come up with ideas to help Hotshots succeed no matter what track or tracks he has. Will was on track with all his reports stirring interest again. Brad didn't kill onroad, Hotshots didn't kill onroad, and the clay didn't kill onroad. Lack of support is why it is what it is period. For the longest time the off-road was the smaller group, but change the track and all of a sudden it's the larger. Making the change to clay was a good economically inclinded idea and now Hotshots as a business has started to level itself back out. I'm not against onroad but the way it has been portrayed by some of these comments makes me glad I decided to put my TC back on the shelf. All this bickering can only be turning drivers of either genre off from coming to Hotshots. So back to the Wednesday night survey....... |
HS, off road , have a sat or sun series , at least for those who
Have to work mon fri , Sunday just has to be a given for business Anymore , run on Sunday sell on Monday always has always will, Indoor off road dedicated 10 scale ticket plenty places to run 8 scale and for those work at night week night races not happening |
We all know that this situation took a long time to get this point. Trust me I'm not saying nor do I think anyone else is saying anything wrong here. Off Road is bigger in Georgia. On road is smaller... When on the other side looking in the choice is obvious. But a few of us still believe it could have been better.
I'm very verbal about this but I'm also not stupid and know that if he does make the change I see the positives. I do race off road and prefer indoor tracks. I love on road and see so much potential about to be ripped up. The racers you guys are seeing post on here are all the original players who have never given up on Brad and have been racing her since the beginning. Nobody is bickering we just wanted our voices to be heard. Especially since most of us buy our onroad stuff from Hotshots. |
All I want to know now is, are we going to have The Top Gun Challenge in April or not? I need to know so I can plan for the onroad races I will be traveling to and still race off road at my home track which is still Hotshots. .......

Ill show up to run wednesdays if i dont have stuff early thursday.
I also dont go outdoors, if hotshot were to pack it in, I'd stop racing my buggy. I do it merely out of connivence to myself and because I enjoy it. When one of those things stops happening, I stop going. Plus car shows. |

You cannot build any world on excuses! If anyone is taking this personal or getting upset enough to have this thread deleted, take a step back and realize that this is a simple discussion. Brad asked if any of us offroad guys would come out on WED, because he is thinking about shutting down the onroad side, so everything here in these post's are on topic. You guys leave yourselves wide open to criticism when you play the blame game! From the last time I checked we are all adults, we should be able to have a conversation in a thread without it getting shut down b/c of someone's ego getting the best of them. I mean shoot, Curtis called me semi intelligent, which means half dumb to some folks, but i know that was not what he meant by it ( I hope :), hahaha). So if you are reading between the lines, trust me there is nothing there, just me simply pointing out YOU make reality what it is by voicing then DOING! |
