Ok Tim you wanted opinions here they are lol....
2nd car option it kind of throws the endurance thing out the window and besides what would stop someone from breaking on purpose 30 minutes in to go to a fresh car, a 20 second penalty? We would be lucky to get a battery in 15, 20 is nothing for a fresh motor, tires, and car.
Unless you made it mandatory for a 2nd car chage the second half hour.....
The idea of an endurance race is to run one car for a given time, just like in a real race, if you break better fix it fast so you can get out there, if you snap a chassis I guess you are out of it....
You can set some limitations like 3 motors total, and only two sets of tires allowed, letting it be part of the team's strategy to sacrifice lap time for the time it takes to get fresher parts.
Cuz I don't care where you gear it with that constant heat we will be melting some brsuh hoods, just speaking from experience here....
And it would force teams not to take chances knowing a break would cost them 5 minutes not 20 seconds
