Hey everyone! My name is Jimmy and I am being transferred to the area soon and I'm happy to see there is some road racing going on there. I am from San Diego and you would think a city this size (5.5 million) would support some road cars, but it's not so. It's a 2-3 hour drive to LA to race so I gave it up way back in the early 80's and switched to nitro boats, but they are rediculously expensive. I've been flying electric planes but it's not like racing and a little boring sometimes. I am excited about both the F1 and touring cars. When is your track open for practice? I am rusty, my last car was a RC12i. It was nice to see the results chart with cars, motors and ESCs listed which was the information I was looking to gather here. I haven't bought a kit yet, so any help is appreciated. I should be there sometime in July and will try to get something built shortly thereafter. Looking forward to some fun...

Welcome Jimmy,
I love this track and the guys here. There is a guy that sells a very competitive car and always stocks parts. He is always at the track on race day. To me this is so important as you do not want to go home because of a small part. The car is relatively inexpensive as well. It even comes pre-built as a roller. I would recommend that one go through the car, but to me it is easier to do this from a car that is car was already built. We have a great bunch of guys.....very helpful. Traction is great at the track and the surface does not eat tires.
I am sure that you have a ton of questions so ask away....
On another note I lived in SoCal for a bit..... Nice times....

The heats are 6 minutes.
Two qualifiers and then the mains.
Touring cars are not that difficult. Don't be intimidated. You will get all the help you need.
The F1 class is just getting started. I think they had 5 last week. Others will chime in soon as to the rules for that class....
I would suggest getting a touring car first because they always have classes. 17.5 is the most popular.....21.5 is gaining popularity. They sometimes have a 13.5 class and USGT with a 21.5 motor.
If you raced a 12 scale car before I think a 17.5 TC will be ez for you.
As of now there are no practice days. We race once a month and sometimes a bit more due to a race such as a series race. It sounds like u raced before Jimmy so I am confident to tell you that you can come race.......get to the track early and practice.... One can also run practice laps before the mains and after the mains for a bit....The traction is so good that your car will be controllable. I have heard that there are bigger plans in the future for the track...... Participation is growing......a testament to a great bunch of guys.

F1 is building and I hope it becomes our competitively fun class. There's several chassis to choose from including Xray, Yokomo and Tamiya. We're running any 25.5 motor and pit 571 front and 572 rear tires. They're made in various forms by different manufacturers but are pretty much the same tire.

I think I will start with the 17.5 TC... I raced a lot of 1/12. I will get a F1 later, after shopping around I would have to wait for someone to get some stock in, not too much available. i need to decide on a chassis once I get moved. I should have a report to work date soon. Anyone here work at Pratt & Whitney?
