A Question for those of us that race World GT's in Florida
#16
I've said that a 4 cell battery with a higher wind motor is as fast as a single cell lipo and the next lower wind.My present car will not accept a 7.4 pack and that is presently not in the rules. It's single cell lipo or 4 cells.
Marcos since when have you ever raced in this class this year? Thus the title of this thread.
Since there is a manufacturer in the Tampa area what is his opinion?Single cell or 4 cell?

Why is everyone wanting to run single cell,it will cost more!to go slower.
if you want to go slow go and buy a radio shack car
2 cell 21.5 is the way to go

It's not rocket science. These are the rules, follow them or run a class that suits your tastes.
The question still remains. What is the consensus on World GT in Florida? 4-cell NiMH or 1s Lipo?

Here's a price comparison;
SMC 1S LiPo $54.95
SMC ENERG 4600's $49.95
Keep in mind your going to need 1 LiPo or at least 2 of the 4 cell packs.
Everyone wants to run single cell Lipo because the rules specify it. ROAR also recognizes 4-cell NiMH for the World GT class.

For thd guys that have raced this class and want to race this class. The question is 13.5 or 17.5 motors and single cell lipo and 4 cells at a state series race. What you race at your own track is up to you. But what everyone else around the state will be running one of these combos. A 2 cell lipo is NOT the question. As it's not in the rules. I'll continue to race my 13.5 single cell. And for those of you that weren't around 10 years ago the main thing the Killed the 1/10th Pan Car (235mm) is SPEED. They got so fast most people could not handle them. They died at the Minregg Carpet Nationals in 1999 with only 6 cars in Modified.
The 13.5 with single cell lipo is plenty fast but not as fast as a 4 cell. The 4 cells have the voltage by 1 volt and that's the big difference. Since they don't have the same voltage they can never be equal in overall speed regardless what you do.The only advantage you'll have is a lighter car.It made 5 oz difference with a lipo over a 4 cell in my car.

Well I think the State Series, or the racers of the state series should just go with the wave of the future and go LiPo 13.5, like you said it's plenty fast, less cost over the long run, less maintenance, and only a few tenths off 4cell, but at the same time if everyone is running it what's the issue?
And no I currently do not run 12th or WGT but I plan on it very shortly, and if the State Series decides to go with LiPo I plan on running that more, but only if they don't embrace historic rules and move forward instead.

Well, I saw a 1s car run compared to the 4c car at Adrenaline last month, and all I can say is "IF" I had a 4c car, it is no way I would go with 1s car. Yeah the maintenance is low, but and its quite a bit slower. I wanted to run a few of the state series races with the wgt car, but, I kinda second guessing it now.
